Shimano or PI Road Shoes--verdict?

I'm looking for some entry-level road shoes. Tried on Sidis, PIs and Shimanos (I currently wear Shimano MTB shoes, old school, hiker-looking shoes).
I have a narrow foot overall, but the ball area is a bit wide. I've found the Shimanos seem to fit well, and PIs a little less so, but still okay, but LBS don't seem to have a good selection. They just have one or two models.
I'm hoping to find some good sales online.
Anyone have any Shimanos or PIs they love? Or anyone have any good road shoe recommendations?

I used to wear a Shimano mtb shoe but switched to Specialized. Have you tried their shoes? I really, really like the fit and it has a wedge in the forefront to help with knee alignment as you pedal.

My next pair of Specialized mtb shoes will be the Taho. :cool:

I have a pair of entry level Sidi mountain shoes (Blaze, I think -- the one with two straps -- I think the road version is the Raiden), a pair of entry level Shimano road shoes, and a new pair of mid-level Sidi road shoes (Zeta carbon -- random choice, I know, and men's to boot -- I got a killer deal at Sierra Trading Post).

The entry level Sidis were not much more expensive than the Shimanos (I think $120 vs $100), but they fit me much better. My foot is not especially narrow or especially wide, but I have a narrower heel and wider forefoot, and a high instep. The Shimanos I have are kind of a sloppy fit, while the Sidis fit like a glove. Both are size 39, and they're almost exactly the same length, and are definitely supposed to fit about the same size foot (that is, on me at least, the sizing is similar), but the Shimanos are just a little sloppier, not just wider but also less shaped.

But that's just my feet :D . You'll have to try a bunch to see what fits best.
