I need help please. I know I came to the correct place.
I found this ad on Craigslist: http://anchorage.craigslist.org/bik/387213986.html Its for a Trek 2000. Before I consider looking at it, do you girls have any thoughts.
I can't afford the whole $800. I know it hasn't been sold yet, and she was going to re-list it. What is this bike really worth? Can anyone tell by the picture? I don't know much about road bikes. :confused: :confused:

From the look of how far the seat post is pulled out thus is a 47 cm frame (my size) ridden by a 6' person :rolleyes: ;)
But the Trek 2000 has a good reputation, aluminum frame will be stiff .... but light :D

I have a 2006 Trek 2100 that I paid $1100 for brand new. (on sale at end of season last year)
I would offer lower. I could probably only get around $900 for mine and it is less than a year old. What are the components? Carbon fork?
Offer around $550 and see what happens.
By the way I love my 2100, nice ride and comfy.
I bought a 2004 Trek 1000 about a month ago. It was only ridden once. Mint condition. The chain didn't even have dust on it.
I paid $400 and though I got a great deal. The bike shop got one like it a few weeks later and they sold it for $500.
I'd say if the bike is in really, really good condition like they say, it may be worth close to that.

I have a Trek 2000 that I paid $900 for (new) in 1999, which I think was the first year of the Trek WSD models, and I love it as much now, if not more, as I did when it was brand new. It's a great bike.

But I think the real question here is this, will the bike fit you? Maybe you should test ride a Trek 2000 in the size that is being sold, to make sure.
Did you buy the bike? I just wanted to add that I bought a used '06 Trek 2100 for $950 earlier this summer - including shoes and cycloputer. Craig's List rules. Looooove the bike!
I went and looked at it last night. Very nice bike, but :( to small. Didn't fit me correctly. Oh well..... back to the drawing board.
I'm so glad you realized the bike wasn't a good fit. So often I get blinded by the prospect of a good deal. :o
I tried to convince myself it could work because it was such a good deal, but I knew I wouldn't be comfortable and would regret it later.
