I love the 2005-06 SSS short. Does anyone know how the 2007 compares. Is it really even better? I am trying to decide whether to order the 2007 at full price or a 2006 closeout.

If you *reaaaally* love your 2005-06, I'd say get the 2006 at closeout price. You already know you'll love it, and you'll get a great deal as well. You can always try an '07 later, but you may not be able to find an '06 again.
I think that with shorts, gloves, and saddles, if you've tried several models and you find one that you absolutely love, you should buy as many extras as you can afford... because you can pretty much count on the manufacturer changing or discontinuing the product.
Thanks for the advice, but by the time I got around to ordering the closeouts were gone. The good news is that my Larges are all horribly too big and I am ready for Mediums, so I splurged and made a TE order tonite for two pairs of the new shorts and two of the sleeveless S-cut jerseys. I tried the mediums on in the store tonite, and they looked so much better than my loose dumpy larges. But, my LBS wanted full price for the old model, and didn't have the jerseys in the colors I wanted, so I went ahead and ordered everything from TE tonite. If I don't like the 2007 short, I can always send them back and buy the old ones from my LBS.
I think you'll like it... the 2007 feels a bit different to me than the 2006, but I like them both a lot. And in your case, if the larges were too big, you'll probably love the mediums no matter which model, because the chamois will actually fit properly.
And congratulations on going down a size! :)
Thanks Cari! While I liked the old short, i.e. it was better than anything else I tried, I gues I didn't really LOVE them, which is why I didn't jump on the closeout. I was hoping maybe they had actually improved them, but wanted some feedback before spending the $. I have now lost 24.5 lb, and I am so stoked about how I looked in the smaller size in the bike shop yesterday. My larges are actually starting to give me saddle sores cuz there is too much fabric that is bunching and chafing. Its weird, as happy as I am about being a smaller size, its EXPENSIVE to replace all my clothes, especially since my weight is still changing so I am not sure how long any one item will even fit me. How are you doing? I remember you were also trying to lose weight.

Ain't it the truth!
I'm noticing a similar "drawback" to losing weight -- I'm at about -18 right now, and things are starting to fit differently on me too. I know that the whole reason we start exercising -- and change our eating patterns -- is to get rid of excess us and increase our health, and it's a pretty joyful side effect that our clothes all quit fitting, but it's going to be a pesky project to start the process of finding just the right stuff again! I'm down to one of four pair of shorts that's pretty comfy these days -- and they're not going to last long either, I'm afraid! (and delighted)
