I need some tire help. every time I try to pick some out, I get bogged down. I've got over 3000 miles on the original tires.
I want some lightweight racing tires. But durable enough to use for training rides. I've ordered some supersonic continentals for actual racing but they are on back order. I've got to get some new ones in before next week's tri.
I'd like lighter than 200g. And if possible with silver sidewalls. very low rolling resistance would be a plus.
any suggestions?
I really like the Michelin Pro2 Race tires. (oops, but I see they're 220g - but that extra 40 g = 1.4 ounces, so it's really not much). My DH has some tires that may be lighter, but I don't recall the name...I'll edit again when i get the name)
They come in a light grey/nearly silver (but perhaps not at this link).
DH has Vittoria Open Corsa Evo's. Also not under 200g, actually, the're listad as 230g, but very nice.

Nashbar has the Grand prix 4000 in silver (not using the nashbar link incase of problems) it's 210g but I'm really thinking about it. I originally wanted the Force and Attack but not in silver and Performance is out of stock. Do you guys know anything about this one? I don't want the light blue Michelin. although the gray would have been ok. if all else is the same I'd rather have the silver

by the way, I got the new saddle....the Selle San Marco Era Composite (although I really wanted the silver one, but will have to wait on funding) So far It's ok. I need to give it a few more adjustments and time)

I like them quite a bit. They are nice and sticky (as in they corner well), yet they are not so soft that they pick up everything. I haven't had any flats with them yet, and haven't seen trainer wear - though I've only been using the trainer for warming up before races. It's hard to see from the photos, but they have medium/light grey sidewalls.
Another vote for the Michelin Pro2 and the Pro2 light. I've had both the Continental 3000 & 4000. YMMV, but for me the Michelin's have a better feel (smoother roll) and have been quite sturdy. I have the Pro2 on my Mavic Open Pros with PowerTap for training. I have the Pro2 light on my Bontrager X-Lites for when I'm going for the lightest weight. I also experience no visible wear on the rear from trainer riding. BikeTiresDirect have the Michelin's in a variety of colors.
