June 28 rides
I decided to tackle a longer ride today so I joined the club for their 50 mile journey. It started out as a beautiful day, lots of sunshine, no breeze, temps in the 80's. The good weather followed us for the first 35 miles and well things went south pretty darn quick at this point in the ride. The skies darkened, the winds kicked up, lightning was flashing about, and yes you guessed it the skies opened up on us. We rode the last 15 miles or so back in a heavy, steady rain. However, even as wet as I was when I got back to my car I felt great and once again found myself smiling for it was such a joy to be on my bike. I'm blessed to have my health back, to be pain free, and to be making some steady progress in healing my wounded soul. Life is good!

I have been sloughing off lately and hope to start riding more. Yesterday I had new speedplay frogs put on my bike after using spd's. Today I rode an easy 14 miles to get used to the new pedals. I know I'll love the easy in and out. I just have to get used to the freedom allowed and not let my feet go too wild. I'm hoping my knees like these pedals better too.

Met my Thursday riding buddy at 7am, her house. We had lots of clouds and it called for rain in the morning then clearing. At mile 35 it started to mist, by mile 40 it was raining. No lightening so we continued to ride. We finished at 70 miles. The deer were plenty today, we saw one that tried to jump a guardrail, did a bellywhopper onto the rail, got detangled and continued on. By the end of the ride, the sun was shining, and it got muggy fast. Glad we didn't have sun the whole ride.
