Hmmm, might be worth making the trip outside the DC beltway for that one! Thanks for the link, Kali!
This one---right in my neighborhood--is awesome, if you want to cross the river and watch some good racing: http://www.cscinvitational.com/ .
Anyone considering heading up to Baltimore this Saturday for the BikeJam? I'm going to at least get up there to see some of the racing and check out the expo, and I'm trying to decide whether I can wake up and get to B'more early enough to do one of the rides through the city. Between all the bikes and all the great food in & around Patterson Park/Fell's Point, it should make for a cool day!
I don't think I want to take my bike to Baltimore...
Aaawww, B'more's not that bad! It all depends on where you hang out. The area around Patterson Park will probably be so full of people and bikes that day that you and your bike would be just fine.
I have two teammates that are going to be racing that day...though I will be staying in Philly! Keep an eye out for the gals in pink! :)
NJBikeGal, what's the name of your team? I don't know yet what time I'll be up there, but I'll look for them if I catch the women's race.
Sturdy Girl Cycling. You can't miss us...hot pink, yellow, and blue kits! :D Give my girls a little cheer for me if you see them!
Well, I didn't make it to the BikeJam this year, either. I headed up to the North Central & York County Heritage Trails, thinking that I'd do 20 quick miles then head down Rte 83 to Baltimore. It was so gorgeous out and the ride felt so good that 20 miles turned into 34 and I was totally pooped, sweaty and dusty afterward.
There's always next year
I got on the North Central at Freeland, which is 1.3 miles from the Pa border. Once in Pa, the trail changes to the York County Heritage. I followed that to Howard Tunnel and back. One of these days I want to ride all the way to York, but I'm going to have to plan that for a cooler day when there's been some rain to keep down the dust. You would not believe how dusty it is!
