A 3.4m high Sandstone archways Vs Army Truck.
Which comes of better? Definitely not the archway.
There's an archway at the entrance of the North Head scenic reserve (Sydney). Once I'm in the reserve, there's hardly any traffic so it makes for safe riding. So there I was around lunchtime, ready for a nice spin, having just ridden under the arch.
There was an army truck 50 metres or so behind me. Then I heard a loud noise. The front of the truck got thru alright, the back of it didn't.
The top of the arch was destroyed, there was big crack down one side & big slabs of rock all over the road and the back of the truck.
I reckon the driver is going to get in big trouble with his boss later on.
1/2 hour later - the police had arrived & there was a group of tourists & locals with cameras in their hand, gawking at the destruction.
I saw a professional photographer, so I reckon there'll be a picture of it in the local paer next week.
I do enjoy living in Sydney - it's never boring. :)
Oh, and while riding earlier I stopped at a few lights with a woman cyclist, whom I happened to meet on the NSW Big Ride. I didn't remember her right away (I hadn't seen her in bike clothes before) but then she said "I know you -we spoke together on the restday". It's a small world isn't it.:)
