Well, I did it.
I got fitted last night for a bike. Bob made measurements of me, of my Bianchi,
and sat down on his computer and made this picture.
He asked me about handlebars, quill stem, pedals, all that stuff.
The only thing he hasn't nailed down is color. As you can see, it's not the right color yet, but .. that's no big deal... we have time.
It's 831 steel and of course campy gruppo...
Congruts on new baby? Boy or girl, name? Many many happy rides, please post pictures when it's complete and he (your mechanic) will deliver it. :o

Huh.. just noticed your chainstay length. I thought it'd be longer? Like more touring like or light touring like? (I talk as if I know what the hell I'm talking about)..

This bike should be built in about 2 months.
I am nervous, so I get quiet and UNenthusiastic. Later I'll get excited.

I'd to know what kind of riding you are planning to be doing on this bike as opposed to your Bianchi....any difference in the intended uses?
The biggest difference of course is when I am riding this bike the people behind me won't get mud in their faces.
It should fit me better. I will be riding it everywhere i have ridden the bianchi. It is also lighter and will have components the Bianchi doesn't have.
I will sell the Bianchi on Ebay or Craig's list.
When I bought the Bianchi, it was sort of a test bike. Will I like road biking? I wasn't sure. I didn't spend a fortune on it, so if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be out so much dough.

Oh, I didn't know you were planning to sell the Bianchi afterwards. I guess you are doing that to economize? I get so nervous having to put my bike in a shop because I don't have another bike to ride when it is out of commission. I worry about something major happening to my Rambouillet because it means I would have SEVERE biking withdrawal until I got it fixed or replaced.Quote:

The Bianchi is steel. The Davidson will not be lugged steel, it will be tig welded instead. I will have lugs on my fork. (forks?)
Selling the Bianchi has some to do with Economy and some to do with SPACE
I already have my Raleigh hybrid bike, which will get some fat tires soon.
I don't WANT to sell my Bianchi (made in Italy and all that)
but it seems prudent. :)
COLOR? It's not going to be PURPLE, it's going to at least have LOTS of ORANGE
She is beautiful! She will be light because Reynolds 853 steel has a very high strength to weight ratio. I just LOVE my reynolds 853 steel bike, even more than my titanium bike. Will it fit your 700c wheels? You may want to keep your bianchi for when she is in the shop. I am not sure you'll get that much for her on ebay, relative to what you invested in her to make her fit you.
Oh, Trisk, I know I won't get what I put into it, but I am hoping for about $700.
That sketch is with 700 wheels. He was a little concerned about that but when he saw the Bianchi and measured it (actual top tube on the bianchi is more like 53 cm!!!) he told me we had lots of room for 700c tires AND fenders.
