Swim goggle questions

I'm thinking I need some new goggles, my current ones are fogging and leaking. I have a couple of questions before I buy new ones:

1. Do the ones that say "anti-fog" really work, or should I get some anti-fog spray or wipes?

2. What is your opinion on colored/shaded goggles as opposed to clear. My current ones are clear. I think the colored/shaded ones look way better, can you see well through them in the pool? Do they make it darker, or do they provide more contrast?

1. I find they work for awhile but eventually they will fog. I dont use anti-fog spray I find spit (as gross as that sounds) works the best.

2. I like blue coloured goggles and they are fine in the pool. I dont swim out in the open water though so I cant comment on how that would be.

I bought gray tinted ones figuring they'd be useful for my open water swim tri (my eyes are especially sensitive to bright light). Sure, they make it darker inside, but I can see very well with them in the pool. I don't know if they improve the contrast.

I have Speedo Sengar goggles and they don't fog at all (and I don't have to spit in them).

I'd strongly recommend NOT putting anti-fog in your goggles, they are really close to your eyes and you never know how those anti-fog chemicals will interact with chlorine vapour. I'd avoid it, just in case.

I have had to switch to blue goggles for my outdoor pool workouts because I was really disturbed by the sun in the clear goggles. They don't bug me when I swim indoor at all.

WOW I will have to check them out. All my goggles have been Speedo and all have fogged up eventually but them maybe I hang onto mine way longer than I should.:)

I wear Seal mask type goggles specifically made for triathlon. They don't fog badly, sometimes worse than others. They have fantastic peripheral visibility (??). Mine are tinted and I can see perfectly fine indoors.

I'm with Grog on the antifog stuff. I've used spit in the past and also a very diluted dish detergent to soak them in periodically. It seems to help.

I use the speedo womens vanquisher, I haven't had any problem with fog. I just learned about spitting on them. This sport sure involves a lot of spitting. LOL
