Spring rains are going to start and I want to keep riding. When it's a drizzle, it's not really a problem but a steady 40F rain is yucky running down your neck.
I currently use a baseball cap to keep the rain out of my eyes, and that keeps some of the rain off my head as well, but I want to know what you all use for your heads.
Rain jacket hood?
Helmet cover?
Sou'wester?
I use the hood of my rainjacket if it's raining really hard. Like a few weeks ago when we had torrential downpours. I was covered in goretex from head to toe. Still got soaked when the river flooded and I was up to my knees in water, but my head stayed dry.
For normal rain, or warm rain, I just let it rain. I get so sweaty anyway that the rain won't make a difference.
If its REALLY raining I wear my kayaking jacket (neoprene neck collar keeps rain out of the jacket) and just let my head get wet.
I once met Quillfred for coffee looking like a drowned rat, but I was warm and dry everywhere but my head and feet.
(but I tend to overheat easily anyway, so letting heat out my head kept me quite happy)
I use a baseball cap too but if its really pouring I put on a helmet cover. They make your head look like an alien but hey it keeps you nice and dry.:DQuote:

When it's just a little snotty....I use a Sugoi (?) helmet cover.
I'm not a big fan of cold and rain. Warm and rain is okay...but 40 and rain, I think I'd leave the bike at home. I'm such a fair-weather commuter!
Anybody tried the showers pass hoods that go under the helmet?? Wondering how those work..... I know the jackets are well loved...

Don't love it, don't hate it. The hood seems to be a bit on the wide and tall side (granted I have a fairly small head). When I cinch down on the draw cords, it pulls down tight on my head, but otherwise it's big. Also, the front is kind of wide and comes up to my chin, so it's tricky to figure out where to put the helmet strap. I've only worn it once in a rainstorm, and it did a great job of keeping the water out of my neck and off my head, but the fit is kind of odd.Quote:
