Lookin' 4 motivation
OK ladies, I had a b!tch of a swim tonight (3500m) and I have to run 2:15 tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be better than last week at least.
I'm tired and I don't know how I'm going to pull it together for this run. Then there's the 4 hour ride on Sunday and I still have one more big week (18 hours for the week) before I get a rest week.
I need a little push. Anyone want to come out to the Gorge and run or ride with me, pleeeeeeaaaaaase.
Wahine trying to convince self...
I love Ironman, I love Ironman....

meee
hey Wahine,
You're an iron chick & you can get yourself through the crappy training.
You can always come with me on a mtn bike ride through some pea gravel tomorrow. I would have invited you on our hill ride today but I didn't think you could get here in time :)
Just by being an Ironman competitor, you're inspiring. Do what you need to now & we'll be cheering you on in the months to come.
Don't give up now chickie

Hang in there Wahine! You'll get through your run, and your bike. Keep that mantra going, over and over, remind yourself you are a goddess. "I am a goddess. I am a goddess. I am an Ironman goddess. I am an Ironwoman. I am an Irongoddess."
You know the drill. Let us know how it goes.
Hugs and happy butterflies that make your feet and legs light

HOLD ON ONE SECOND MISSY, ( that was my best teacher voice....imagine my teacher face to go with it).....
You are MY motivation, so just go on out there and Get 'er done! If I were closer I would come over on my bike and keep you company on your run. But alas, I am 3000 miles away and I am sick, so you are just going to imagine that I am there with you while you run, telling you funny stories about my students, and how I spit on myself running last week.
Let that Inner Warrior Princess out...YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!
whew...now...go run...snacks and a nap later....

You can do it. Enjoy your gorgeous scenery and getting to be outside.

Well... all of the ladies have done a wonderful job! :D
My belief is this... if I'm REALLY DREADING something... I go into it with the idea that I can cut down the miles/time.... as I feel like it.
Oddly... once I get out there and do it, I want to go the miles/time.
Otherwise, if you are REALLY-REALLY-DREADING it... don't do it. You will feel so guilty for missing your workout... you will be motivated the next time around. :p
Seriously though, you have an Ironman in August... right? That is a good 6 months away. I think going a little shorter and giving yourself a mental break from the training, won't make or break your performance at this point.
Now, I'm not sure if you should take advice from a gal who has never done anything longer than a sprint... HA!
*I'm a great cheerleader aren't I?*;)

Thanks Ladies. I will remember your words as I head out. No scenery today, we're in an inversion and it's lucky if you can see your hand in front of your face. So I'll wear bright clothes and as a comprimise, I will be driving someplace where I can run a relatively flat route, (nothing's truly flat here).
KSH - thanks for the concern. I am having a mental glitch and if it was worse, I would take the day off. But it's not bad enough for that. I have a rule that unless it's really, really bad I have to go out and try. If I still feel like crap after 15 min then I stop. I also keep track of my resting HR to make sure I'm not pushing to hard physically. Guess what, I'm fit as a fiddle according to my HR this AM. So out I go.
IM Can is on Aug 26. Yes it's 6 months away. Right now is when I get my big weekly volumes in to build my base. Then, in April, I cut my training hours back and start working on intensity and speed. But there's always room to miss a workout if I needed the extra rest. I don't need the extra rest, I just need the extra help to get my butt moving because to be honest I find these long slow distance workouts boring as all heck.
RnR - You made me LOL.
CC - I wish I could've done that ride with you.
And thanks to the rest of you.
-
Weelll... then get your butt in gear missy and go run! :D

I wish I were out having even a crappy run instead of in my chair with a crappy fever....
my inner warrior princess is MIA....maybe she is under the pile of tissues....
but hey on a positive note..at least I can stop worrying about catching this round of sickness from my students, cuz I ALREADY GOT IT.....

Another Run Down
Well thanks again for the push. The weather started out very grey and misty. Slowly things burned off. I chose a slowly climbing route through the orchards on farm roads. The skeletal apple and pear trees were kind of spooky in the mist. Everytime I was faced with a decision regarding direction, I chose the road heading up so I wouldn't lose altitude. I figured it would help on the way back if it was mostly downhill.
At my turn around I still felt pretty strong and the boredom wasn't too bad because I was in new territory. The clouds had lifted enough that I was getting some nice views at this point. Then I burned rubber back and it didn't hurt a bit until mile 11 then things started to get tough. I finished it up with sunshine and a view of Mt. Adams. Total 13 miles at average pace of 10:36, avg HR of 135. Solid zone 1.
Now my legs are achy and I need a nap. Gotta get ready to ride tomorrow. It's turned out to be a spectacular spring day here. If it's half this beautiful tomorrow, the ride should go by quickly.
Thanks for the help.
RnR - I'm sorry you're sick and laying around on the couch. At least it happened heading into a rest week. You can make up your weekend workouts next week and then just carry on with your schedule as planned. I hope you feel better soon.
-
Thanks Yoda...I am already on the mend. Feelin' better. Fever down..eating and already thinking about how soon I can work out. I figure if you have a strong base, missing a few workout won't derail the train.
So I plan on adjusting the schedule next week while still keeping it an easy week.
All is well in the sniffle zone.
And Well done to you for gettin' it done. Sometimes the workouts I want to do least are the ones that turn out the best..
Sleep well....

RnR - The Yoda thing really cracks me up. I know why you say it but it's truly funny because I really love green. My bike is bright green, my helmet matches, all my clothes are either green or go with green, my office chair is green.....
-
Great job, Yoda... one more long run down! :)
-
My favorite spinning instructor says to tell yoursel you'll slack next time.
Good job on the run and was the ride a reward?

Haven't gone out for the ride yet. It's p!ssing down rain right now. I'm putting a chilli in the crockpot, once that's done, I'll re-evaluate. I just had my bike overhauled and it's sparkly clean. I don't really want to take it out in the rain.
But I also don't fancy the idea of sitting on the trainer. DH said that he would rent some movies and watch them with me. What I might do is go out on my MTB for a couple of hours then come home and sit on the trainer for one movie.
We'll see.
