Wahoo!!!!!!!!!!
First let me say that I love my LBS! They called Friday night to let me know that my new bike was built and ready for a fitting. When i came in on Saturday my truck broke down in their parking lot! Yeah, broken tie rod end. Prolly cost me as much as the bike.
I got fitted and thw owner said he would deliver it to my house (since I had to catch a ride with the tow truck).
This morning I had my first ride. WAHOOOOOO! Road bikes are sooo fun! I learned three things on this first ride.
1. I set my computer wrong. I could not understand why I felt like I was flying and the speedo only said 10 mph! Then I noticed that at my normal 10 mile mark, it said only 6 miles.
2. You cannot downshift using brake levers! It took me about 2 miles to get all the shifting and braking right.
3. My home town is MUCH less bike friendly than the next town over.
I'm going to try my first group ride on Wednesday night (18-20 miles) and a charity ride (just 25 miles)on Saturday. I think I will know for sure if anything needs tweeking by then.
Happy riding.

Oh, Barb, that's super! Congrats - I'm glad you didn't have to wait as long as you thought. What a nice surprise.
A good LBS is worth it's weight in gold, isn't it?
Don't forget to bring Carmen back in for her one-month checkup (most LBSs tell you to do so); sometimes it takes a little while for things to settle in, brake and der. cables can stretch a bit.
Have lots of fun! (and sorry about the truck, yikes!)
