Here's a link to a sizing chart that might be helpful in answering your question - it does conversions between sizes used in different countries. Of course these sizes may have nothing at all to do with reality since the actual size seems to be manufacturer-specific (at least in women's clothing). I'd love to see some consistency.

Very Large.
Womens' sizes don't stop at 8 or 10. They continue upward in even numbers. It's not rocket science.
it is just in shirts I don't normally see 10,14 etc.. that is why I asked. Sorry to bug you.
They are sizes for larger women, sometimes called "Plus" sizes.
2-4 XS
6-8 S
10-12 M
14-16 L
18-20 XL
etc. etc. etc.
I know someone who takes a size 0.
She's very petite and very very slender.
Good thing she's also very nice, otherwise I'd hate her :D
One of my sisters wears a 22. Another is size 18.
Yep... they are not little.

Interestingly, a few years ago I was in the States and decided to shop at Target. I was shocked and amazed to be able to wear a size 3!!! A size 5 is usually as low as I could get into at the time (larger today)....
And then there is the difference between stores. In a Bootlegger I take a Large or a size 12 and in Suzanne's, just a few doors away, I was fitting into a size 6 petite. Go figure!!

I wear a 16 pretty consistently, and it seems I can find that size in both plus size and regular size stores. Certain designers size differently, though, and in Liz Claiborne I can wear a 14, but my wedding dress was a couture size 22! (which I had to alter for my top half).
I'm not a size, though, I'm a person. :D
I really find it hard to believe that one has never run across a size 16 or plus sizes, though. Where do you shop?

I found some womens doufold shirts on ebay. I do not own any duofold unless my ll bean river driver shirt counts. All the wool shirts I own are... one I got in Australia. It is great as a base layer. A little rough though effective. And then I own a cuddle duds shirt. And that is it besides couple wool sweaters. I want to get a good wool base layer but not ibex or anything like that to much $$$$. Oh I almost forgot about my wonderful ibex cycling sweater my dh gave me for christmas last year. That is a sweet sweater. So anyway I wear a small to med and was not familar with number sizing on shirts. Seems strange I wouldn't? I don't kow I just go for s ,m or L depending on the fit.
Nice one! :D
I do a slow burn every time I shop for clothes. I'm not hugely overweight but I do need to lose my tummy, so I wear 16 if it's a good quality garment or 18 if it's some cheaper/off brand item. Same with shoes :(
I was wearing size 14 in high school 30 years ago, and didn't have an ounce of fat. Now, I just shop for comfort and don't give a toss about what size something is.
