So, is there a difference between men and women's pads? I was considering buying a pair of mens, but I'm leary it will feel funny.
By the way, I'm new here. Hello.

Welcome to the board, tell us about yourself!
(we actually have a thread called getting to know you, and there
are a bunch of questions you can answer)
You might also notice that most of us don't use our real names for our own protection.

Actually, there are a number of us - and I'd say more than just a few - who do use our names.
I haven't had a problem with it yet, and my name has been exposed on the web for quite a few years. Note that using your name does not expose your email address. And I don't imagine that new users who choose to use their names as their TE logon will see problems caused by that choice.
Welcome Meg!

Hi Meg! It's me. :D
ETA: that's not her last name.
Welcome! By pads do you mean armor for aggressive mountain biking or the chamois in bike shorts?
Welcome Meg! Hope you come back often - this is a great place to hang out - especially if you are really supposed to be working.....shhhhhhhhh!!!;)
Hi Meg and Welcome. I'd say the pads in the shorts are different for us women and men. We all have different parts to protect  Come by often, this is a great group of ladies here and one gent. Jennifer
I rode in cheap men's shorts for a long time because I couldn't find women's xxl shorts. But TE does sell some (ones I got are velo bella) and they are a lot more comfortable. My advice is spring for better shorts. The extra $ does make a big difference in quality.
I have only ever used men's shorts, and have never had a problem with them.
I have been cycling for two years and have 5 different brands/makes/shapes of shorts.
I've only been on a bike for 5 months now ,but for 4 of them I thought I was dying every time I rode over 15 miles....it burned when I peed ,I was rubbed raw. I thought it was the stock saddle on the hybrid bike I've been riding ,but I got a pair of pearl Izumi short attack shorts ,and now even riding the stock saddle feels good. I wear them under something...I looked for the shorts with the biggest thickest padding.
So yes...don't skimp on the shorts.
