Okay, first I admit I have very few if any domesticated properties so what probably is a simply fix has me boggled. The zipper on my one and only winter jersey has separated so when you pull the zipper tag up or down the two sides will not match up as they should. Is there a way to fix this or do I simply need to purchase a new jersey next week? I'm so bummed to say the least.
Is this a nylon zipper? Is it the kind where the "teeth" are made of a sort of plastic spiral thingy, rather than the same shape as metal zipper teeth? If so, and if that spiral has stretched out of shape, then the only solution is a new zipper. Zippers can, however, be replaced. If you have a sewing machine and a bit of patience, you do not need to replace the whole jersey.
Or if there is a local seamstress, tailor, or even drycleaning shop, you can probably pay for the repair....I think mine cost around $20C, but they should have put a better zipper in as it broke again within a few months (perhaps this has more to do with the general bloatation of my midsection than the zipper?)Quote:

The baggage security folks (TSA?) at the airport last March busted a zipper on my boot bag when I was returning from a ski trip. I took the bag to a local cobbler (shoe repair) and they fixed it there for something like $10.
You should be able to get your zipper repaired/replaced fairly easily...and probably for cheaper than a new jersey.
A good seamstress experienced at working with lycra should easily be able to replace the zipper. Also, if the jersey is new, the manufacturer may be willing to. If it is a recent purchase, contact the place of purchase.

Thanks guys for your suggestions. I think I'll take my jersey to an alteration shop I used last year (I had not even thought of this as an option). They did a great job on a pair of dress pants and were very affordable. I can't help but think she can replace the zipper for a lot less than I'd pay for a new winter jersey.
