Kinetic Road Fluid Trainer?

Is there anything about this one that would make me sorry I bought it? Too loud, or anything? (Being new to trainers, I'm not sure what to look for.)

I'm thinking of giving it to my husband for Christmas. We're still undergoing lots of stress with his mom, who is not recovering well from her heart attack awhile back. Because my husband is the kind of son all mothers should have, this means he leaves for work an hour early so he can go check on her at the rehab/nursing home, and goes there on his way home from work, too. It's dark when he leaves and dark when he gets home, and I'm hoping to get him stress relief via the trainer.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

That's the one we have. It's seen a lot of use. To answer your other question - yes you can do Spinervals on a bike in the trainer.

That's funny, I bought my kurt kinetic yesterday. Big Problem!!! My Giant OCR3 doesn't fit... My bike frame is over one of the devices on the back of the wheel that hooks up to the trainer. We don't know how we're going to fix this to make the bike fit on the trainer. If you buy one, bring your bike to make sure it fits. The store put a Specialized bike on the trainer when it came in so I could try it. Then I brought it home...OOPS! But it's rated THE BEST!

Did you loosen the knob that lowers the back part that presses against the tire?

if you look on the trainer, the 2 pins that hold the tire in place have "cones". One of the cones hits against the frame of the bike which holds the tire and won't fit in properly.

Try buying a cheap quick release and use that one in the trainer.

violette - The Kinetic won't fit the OCR. We have run into that problem with our spinning class this year. We just put the OCR women on a CycleOps trainer. Can you exchange the Kinetic? Maybe contact Kinetic?

Veronica - the Kinetic trainers come with a separate rear skewer to safely secure the bike to the trainer. The trainer just won't work with the OCR frames.

We bought our Kurt Kinetic three years ago. It did not come with a separate rear skewer.

PS I found this by doing a Google search on Kurt Kinetic + Giant OCR.

Well, my husband just fixed the problem on my trainer with my OCR bike. He called me at work so when I come in on Monday, I'll let you know how he did it. (told him he should patent it!!) He tried it and said it worked great.

My Kinetic included a rear-wheel skewer, although I only got it this summer and not a few years ago.

It is a good trainer and has a nice power curve, plus the company has an excellent reputation for customer service - always a boon :)

Veronica - Thanks for the info on the OCR adapters. I'll call Kinetic on Monday to arrange for a couple.

I think I'll take one of our bikes with me when I buy. Since our bikes are a little different, it can't hurt to be sure up front. Thanks for the discussion!
