Need Santa Ana Trail Map

Can any of you So.Cal. girls help me locate a map of the Santa Ana river trail? I found a link to the trail online, but always like a hard copy in my hands. With my limited google skills I can't find any place to send away for a copy. All I need is an address and a price. Thanks bikerHen

Don Brundige and Sharron Brundige have come out with a number of cycling books covering LA and Orange counties. I have the L.A. version and it has detailed maps of countless rides. The Orange County version can be found used for $6.00:

OK the Santa Ana River trail really doesn't need a map. You basically ride it from Huntington Beach to Yorba Linda and back (you can go farther but that's 80 miles as is) ... the route is very obvious! :cool:

If you are looking for some directions as to where to start or places for lunch all us OC gals can help you with that.

You're right, I'm sure I don't need a map to stay on the trail. :) I just like to look at maps and check out my old stomping grounds. :rolleyes: I'm thinking about getting on the trail at Anaheim Stadium, if I can survive the ride from Disneyland to the stadium. It's not that far . . . but lots of traffic! From Anaheim I was planning to ride north and east as far as I can, then pick up my ride back to Hemet. Any guesses on how many miles that would be? Also is this a relatively safe trail to ride on alone?

I think from Angels stadium to north end is around 20-30 miles. It ends at Green river Road in Corona (91 and 71 freeways).
I haven't had problem with doing it solo.
Riverside and San Bernardnio also have a path along the Santa Ana. It currently ends at Van Buren on south end. North - i have no idea I know it goes past Waterman in SB. Long term plan is to link the two together and extend the north end to Highland

Thanks for the info. I remember the area. In fact the first "long" bike ride I ever took was from Fullerton to Featherly Park back in the early 70's. :D

I was thinking about Green River as my pick up point. But, if I could go further east, maybe on surface streets? :rolleyes: How does one get around Prado Dam? The family will be driving back along 91 and turning off at Van Buren. It could be an interesting ride. :) I guess I need to scare up a Riverside Co. map. bikerHen

If you are staying in Hemet at the time, it would be easier to start from the green river end and just go as far as you want and turn around. I would love to go with you if you'd like but its a pretty safe trail... sometimes there are some transients hanging out but they pretty much hang out and don't bother anyone, plus there are usually lots of other cyclists.

Please let me know when you are going, I'd love to tag along :p

I've been down from Cucamonga to Anaheim via the trail. You can go east on Streets(like Green River to Serfas club) and connect up with say, Victoria Street in Riverside.
have you been to www.bikemetro.com. It's pretty handy when the server is up.

Actually, we will be in Anaheim (Disneyland) New Years Eve and I was thinking about heading back to Hemet via bicycle for my New Years Day ride. If you could figure out how to join me I'd love the company. We could take you home after the ride!

Weather permitting, and I'm keeping my fingers cross not to have a repeat of last years rain, I plan to ride everyday we're there. I'm definietly planning to do at least one ride with you. I'm sure you know some good routes without too many hills. :D I'm still getting used to my double. :rolleyes:

DH and I will be in Hemet the first week of January. Since he has decided he has a twelve mile limit I'll be looking for riding partners. :rolleyes: bikerHen

All those street names sound so familiar! Can't quite place how they connect. I've ask my SIL to send me a Riverside Co. map so I can plan my route. This ride started as a vague notion about the river trail, but I'm starting to get excited to see how far I could go. bikerHen
