Going to hawaii!

My husband and I are going to Hawaii in Feb for vacation! And it only cost us $50.00. We used our frequent flyer miles and our friends have rental over there that they are going to let us use for free. I just have to cook for them at night (which I love to do anyway). My ? is does anyone know if you can rent bikes over there (decent one's). I want so bad to go riding over there, but our friends don't have any bikes. We are going to hilo on the big island. oh hey thier rental is really nice if anyone is interested in renting it.

My husband and I went to the big Island for the solar eclipse, back in '91 (I think). We did a tour around the Island, so we wanted our own bikes. You can rent, but since you have friends who you can ship your bikes to, I'd recommend that if you're comfortable with putting them back together. Besides the comfort of having a bike you know fits, it's pretty cool to have pictures of you on your own bike in a new place.

Have fun in Hawaii. Hubby and I will be on the Big Island From Dec. 23-Jan. 27. We love it on the Hilo side of the Island. Much less crowded than on the West side. Here are some places that rent bikes if you decide not to bring your own over.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I don't think we will ship our bikes over there. I want a vacation and getting the bike packaged up and all that is more work then I want. I think we will rent though. Thanks for the link sandyls I put it in my saved files.

Brandi, I am so jealous! I went to Hawaii (and stayed with a friend for cheap) when I graduated from law school in 1996. I've been dying to go back ever since but lost my "free ride." It's the prettiest place I've ever seen. Have a great time and please give is a trip report (w/ pix) when you get back.
