Question on "Tune Ups"
Would love to search the archives but I am at work, and sneaking a peek at TE.com cuz I am addicted....
LBS all say they have to have my bike overnite to do a tune up on my gears/deraillers. I really hate leaving my baby with strangers and besides, I can't ride tonite if I do that.........:(
Anyone adjust their own?? Is it "easy"? By that I guess I mean, can boneheads do it?? (me being the bonehead). And can I get instructions online?? Reason why I shouldn't attempt this??
Any input is greatly appreciated!!!

I think you can absolutely learn to adjust your own brakes and deralliers.
May I ask - why are you taking it in for an adjustment? What isn't working correctly? Brakes I can currently do - deralliers, I'm still learning. I know someone has posted recently about how to adjust, but I'm at work too, so can't do too much searching;)

Look at www.parktool.com. If you can understand their directions, go ahead and do it. It really does help to have a repair stand (or try turning the bike upside down or hanging it from the ceiling with ropes) because you have to pedal and shift alot to get it right.
