Camps, anyone?
This is my second year on a mountain bike and although I am getting a lot better at handling technical single track, I feel like I am at a learning-lull. Has anyone ever taken mountain biking courses or gone to a mountain biking camp? In Vermont, there is the Coyote Hill Mountain Bike Camp that I have been looking into, but part of me is nervous about going to some camp with people I don't know and working on my mountain bike skills. But on the other hand, I really feel that I need some extra training for my technical skills.....and reading books just doesn't cut it for me. Any suggestions or advice?

anyway, its really great if you can take a clinic with other women. women tend to learn differently than men.
i LOVE teaching mtb to women. the energy and excitement is addicting, and it is really great to watch the progress over the course of the weekend...
i hope you enjoy!

Coyote Hill
I went to Coyote Hill about a month ago and thought it was great. Tom and Gabi are wonderful hosts and great teachers. I would not hesitate to go by myself, as the atmosphere is very congenial and the instruction is tailored and adapted to the individuals attending.
I would also like to do a women's-only camp. Perhaps if there are enough of us we could get one going in the New England area? Two years ago Jacquie Phelan came out to MA and did a camp. I unfortunately had a family emergency and couldn't attend that weekend. Maybe we could get her to come back? If there is enough interest, I would be willing to check into it for next year.

I'd be interested in a MA camp/clinic for next year.

Depending on where in MA, I would be interested in joining up. I have spent time down at Otis, and the Cape on the Endless Singletrack.....nice stuff. That is where my bikehubby learned to make trails!

I can't say enough about the Sugoi Dirt Series women mtb camps. Unfortunately I think they are mostly held on the west coast. But if you can go, do it. I learned so much this past spring over one weekend and plan on hitting the co'ed Whistler one next fall with the BF.
