While I missed fellow TE rider, Maryellen on the ESAR ride this year, I did lead a team of Puget Sound Riders from the Seattle area to my birth state of New York and our team contributed almost $25,000 to the total raised so far; my fundraising total at this point is $4,150

And, just like many of you, I'm sure, have also $upported many friends in their charity ride/walk efforts this year, donating to the Breast Cancer Fund climb of Mt. Rainier, MS150 Walk-Massachusetts, MS150 ride-Washington, Race for the Cure-Denver/Komen Breast Cancer, Light the Night Walk-Seattle/Leukemia to name several.

There are truly so many worthy causes to fight; however I made a commitment years ago: to ride my bike, raising funds in support of wide-ranging efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS. So I will continue to ride for the same reason and hope to someday ride - just for the pure joy and fun of it!
Ride on girls and tailwinds to all of us!
Mary

I haven't been posting, it was a tough year. But...I raised more than 2 cents it was more than 2 cents. I rode The Ride for Missing Children again in May of 2006. I raised $600.00. Only we count it in posters for missing children, 2400 posters. My son raised $500,00 as well, but probably boys don't count here! We raised the money together, so add it up any way you want.

By the way, there's nothing quite like training for a ride, and completing it with your 16 year old son. (It did make me feel old, but that's another post)

I am amazed and humbled at the amounts you folks raise for your rides.

:D

The chapter that I rode with did about 300 miles over 4 days, starting in northern New Jersey, passing through Ground Zero and finishing at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in D.C. Other chapters came from southern NJ and Virginia. A very hard core group did a cross-country relay from LA to DC.

Trek420

Jenerator,

I'd say 300 miles over 4 days is fairly "hard core"

Here's an article about my niece, UK Elephant on this board, in training for the AIDS ride. Yikes  she's enlisted the athletic department. Now I'll never keep up with her. I'll just have to eat my way to the finish.
