Ok So I know that as long as you don't say it you are safe. The second the words escape your mouth..... doom strikes.

So I have been in clipless for just shy of two weeks. A few days ago I posted, all happy with myself, cuz I made the leap to clipless and I HAD NOT FALLEN!!!!! YEH! I don't suck after all!!! :p :D :)

Scratch that. I suck. :( I suck so bad that tonite when I unclipped (bear in mind my pedals are set loose enough that clipping in is a no brainer) and set my foot back on the pedal thinking I cleared the "clip" range, I had not. Go to pull my foot off the pedal for my smooth dismount, and down I go.

And who was there to see my act of complete incompetance?? This is good: My dear hubby who has seen me do numerous stupid things so that didn't really bother me; and a group of teenie boopers hanging out by their "ride" and drinking gatorade.

Ok - so that kinda bothered me.

AARRGGHHH! :( :o Now I got a hole in the back of my left ankle where my pedal stabbed me, and road rash on my right knee.

I may be 38 but damnit I'm a tomboy re-born!!!

I am sorry to hear about your fall. Now it is out of the way. :) Heal quickly.

IMHO, there are two types of cyclists: ones whose clipless pedals attacked them and those whose clipless pedals will attack them.

Welcome to the first group :D Aren't you glad to get that over with?

Heal fast!

Yup. The ego hurts more than the body. When I unclip, I put my heel into the clip portion of the pedal.

I'm so sorry. That ego must really be bruised! my first wreck was at zero miles per hour. I came to a stop and forgot to unclip. I got beat up by the bike before I even hit the pavement!! :) I was fighting it all the way to the ground!! :)

Cyclchyk, sorry about the fall, but it's a rite of passage, and it's behind you now. Be proud of that road rash! I know what you mean about being a "mature" tomboy. I tell people that I suffer from adult onset athelticism.

And 3) Those whose clipless pedals will never attack them because they don't have any! ;) :D

Adult Onset Athleticism--or AOA--I love that, kaybee! I think I'll begin using it myself, with proper attribution of course.:D

So sorry about your fall, Cyclchyk. I don't have clipless pedals, but the same thing can happen--and has happened--with toeclips. At least you got it out of the way with a minimum of pain and suffering.
