L/S jerseys w/ uv?

Hey all,

Anyone tried any of these?

I can't really take much sun so am wondering if I should just get l/s jersey with uv protection or if I should get arm protection sleeves?

I can't stand to be hot either. I just puff out and lose energy. How cool are the l/s jerseys?

Maybe so we don't burn our backs, boobs and tummies? lol... Lately I've acquired tanlines from my sports bra -- which I wear under jerseys, of course.

The Shebeest jersey looks good, but it does have a brushed interior. I've been eyeing that one myself. Please let me know if it works for you.

The Bouré jersey appears to be similar to the long-sleeved Amici Veloci jersey I ordered. I'll let you know when I get it

Cannondale's Solar Jersey is nice, but it's white (i.e. kinda transparent) and has only one small zippered pocket. I tried their Competition Jersey (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=16347) just once but haven't worn it again. It was ok, but I tanned right through it. In all fairness, though, I didn't burn at all, and it was a long ride from 9am-12:30pm, when the sun is pretty strong.

Louis Garneau's MicroBrush fabric is brushed but not *too* heavy. (But stay away from their Micro Airdry Elite, which is thicker and heavier). I wore last year's Team Speed Queen Longsleeve jersey in warm weather and it worked pretty well. I like them so much that I'm thinking of using a razor to shave them on the inside. No joke.

My boyfriend wears his Boure L/S with UV all summer long. He loves it, and thinks it really helps protect his skin (he lives in Miami)

Also, the customer service at Boure is wonderful - good folks.

You think I should order a men's small or just wait til the women's comes out? In the meantime either jsut hang with what I've got or maybe go with the "cheap"
shebeest one (that may be a tad warm).

Not sure if there's that much diff between men and women's bike jerseys

Do you know if it fits small like the Wahini and K2-(fabric DriStyle™)or loose like the Orbit Jersey-love this one, the fabric is: (Sueded Microwic UVA). I do not know the difference if there is one between the Microwic vs. Sueded Microwic) and I am hoping you know. :)

here we go again... uv protection is soooooo important, and there is not enough bike apparel out for us.

I just got my Solrace Jersey from Jaggard. It fits and feels great... you can find it on bikemania.biz for $ 65. Watch out for sizing... it fits snug

A lot of solarprotection jerseys are to loose for roadbiking.

And yes what's about the sleeveless uv protection jersey/tops... I guess there was no thinking involved ha ha ha

Yep, there is. Microwic UV (http://www.teamestrogen.com/reference/noteDetails.asp?ID=microwic%20uv) is a regular lightweight summer fabric -- what the Bellissima jerseys are made of, for example. Sueded Microwic UV (http://www.teamestrogen.com/reference/noteDetails.asp?ID=sueded%20microwic%20uv) is similar, but it's a midweight fabric and it's brushed on the inside so it's warmer than the regular Microwic UV. The Switchback jersey has this fabric.

I haven't seen the jersey they have on STP, but I would think that the fit would be similar to that of the Orbit, i.e. a 'normal' cycling fit. It's probably the DriStyle fabric that makes the Retro and Wahini jerseys so tight.

Speaking of which... I wore one of my Retro jerseys last night and it looked and felt great! I bought two several months ago, in blue and pink, wore the blue one once, deemed it too tight for public consumption, and shelved them both. Now, 8 pounds lighter and having acquired a really cool Shebeest sports bra which has liberated me from bra lines under my jerseys, I felt brave and wore the blue one again last night. True, it's an XL which is a size bigger than all of my other Shebeest jerseys, but the clinginess of the fabric actually made me look slim!

So, BMo3, thank you for telling me your story and inspiring me to get back on the weight loss bandwagon! :)

I ride in the hot So Cal sun and would be burned to a crisp if I wore s/s jerseys, not to mention the sleeve tan lines! I bought a few 20 dollar performance long sleeve jerseys -- very light weight, very cool, especially the white one -- and washed them with the Rit SPF 50 clear dye. One wash worked great all summer.

The Orbit feels great and I would not consider it a cold weather top. Cooler temps, yes, cold definitely not, IMO. In the Wahini and K2 styles I wear a Large, but in the Orbit the Large is really too big. I would have sent it back for a Medium, but decided loose is fine, I can add layers under it, right? I really like the feel of the Orbit. Even more so than the K2. :)

CONGRATULATIONS on the weight loss and fitting into the jerseys!!!! Keep up the great work!

As for the bra... I tried four different styles, and the two that worked best for me were the Shebeest Power Flex Bra (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=18765) and the Aerosport Bra (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=9743). I also liked the Louis Garneau Lolita Bra (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=17994), but their sizes didn't work for me, so the Shebeest ones fit better. (When I get around to it, I will sell the Lolita Bras, if you or anyone else is interested.)

I used to buy only very structured bras, with underwire and what not, because I used them for jogging. So first I tried the Hind Nexus C/D/DD Bra (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=13663). But it seemed a bit much -- too constrictive for cycling, so I took a chance on the Shebeest bras, and I love them! I realize that for biking, comfort and wicking ability are much more important than zero bounce. The fact that they look great under jerseys was an added bonus! :D
