So. it's been 7 weeks since I broke my collar bone. My shoulder feels good. I can pick up things without much pain. It really only hurts to sleep directly on it. So I called my friend Denise who is also recovering from an injury to see if she'd be up for a short flat ride.

so I dusted off the cobwebs, pumped up the tires, and filled up the water bottles.

We left Walnut Creek at 9am for a 20 mile (total) out and back to Danville. Totally flat and slow enough to chat. It was great. I was a little skittish with all the cracks and bumps in the road but once I had a Sharfenberger Mocha at Peet's and sat down among a dozen other cyclists, I was hooked again. I think I'll go out tomorrow morning for another 20 miles before meeting up with the girls to settle all the plans for our big fundraiser party on Wednesday night.

I sent a few of you PMs about the party. Hope you can come. If you didn't get the PM and want more info, just send me a PM. It's going to be a fun evening; music, silent auction, give-aways, beer & wine, food, soda, etc. We've got a lot of neat stuff to auction off and give away including a triathlon clinic, biomechanic video analysis, $100 in rentals at Marmot, 4 tickets to Slims, 4 tickets to Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and on and on....

Glad that you're back on the bike.

Ahem I didn't get a PM invitation so I will just sit here and take it personal that I didn't (that's ok, no dog sitter that day so probably could not go anyway). ;)

all my best for your surgery. I hope it goes well and you heal fast!

everyone's recovery time is different but everyone I've talked to are riding again. Just listen to the doctor and wait until it feels right.

EXCELLENT!!!

I am so glad your ride was good.

I am going to try to make the party - tough with the short one. And DH made the softball finals, which means he'll be gone a night or 2 this week. We'll see.

Thanks Dita -

It was a bummer not to ride but I enjoyed chatting with riders at the rest stop. I'm starting to look forward to ski season, but also a little cautious. I guess that will depend on where I'm living (i.e., working).
