Mary Jolly has become the first woman to have completed two Tour du Canada rides. Mary's first cross-Canada ride was in 2000 and she returned this year at the age of 64 to complete the 7700 kilometre ride across Canada

Two groups with a total of 44 cyclists completed the 18th annual ride, travelling from Vancouver, British Columbia to St. John's, Newfoundland. Cyclists travel and average of 132 kilometres a day for 58 or 59 riding days through all ten Canadian provinces. There are nine cycling days with distances over 160 kilometres.

The age range of the cyclists in 2006 was 18 to 70. Riders came from the Canadian provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Alberta, Quebec and from the countries of Australia, France, England, New Zealand and the U.S.A.
