So there I was, killing a little time at work, looking at bike ads on craigslist. And I found this ad:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/bik/201390703.html

A Trek Fuel 90 WSD for $285?! Wow, unless it's been beat to heck, that sounds like a pretty good deal.

Someone please buy it and remove the temptation!!!

Meanwhile, I'm going to write this 100x on my whiteboard:

I don't need a full suspension mountain bike.
I don't need a full suspension mountain bike.
I don't need a full suspension mountain bike.
I don't need a full suspension mountain bike.
I don't need a full suspension mountain bike.
I don't need a full suspension mountain bike.

FWIW, I have a fullie in the utility room gathering dust right now (Klein Palomino). I don't ride nearly often enough to justify such a fancy bike, and the bike is far better design than I am a rider. Sometimes, I wish I still had the simplicity of my hardtail.
I'm not totally familiar with the Trek line, but if you are a good rider and ride a lot, and that's a good deal, go for it. If not....K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Silly).

Also remember if the deal is too good to be true on CraigsList there is a possibility that it is stolen, so always be a wary customer.

The post has been removed -- probably either a scam or stolen goods.

Now, when I saw the title of your post, I thought maybe you were browsing "Casual Encounters" or something......

Thanks, everyone for your insights! Glad that the posting has been removed, but now I'll have to deal with the temptation of the Casual Encounters area on craigslist. ;)

Regina, sorry to hear your Klein Palomino is gathering dust on top of that gorgeous paintjob. My friend also bought a Klein Palomino a few years back -- it's a beautiful bike, but his is also gathering dust. I think he wishes he'd bought a hardtail, because it's really hard for him to climb with the full suspension.

And yes, Eden, there's probably a good chance that it was stolen. They claimed they were leaving the country, but $285 for a bike that typically is in the $800 range?!
