I turn on a sweet, newly paved stretch of country lane. To my horror, the road is awash in small white pillow-shaped items. Before I have a chance to stop/swerve/thin, my front tire runs over one. Ga-lurp. Ga- lurp. I stop to investigate.

Miniature marshmallows. By the hundreds.

Ga-lurp. Ga-lurp. Down the road I go.

I bet that later that night, there was a racoon festival!

What do you suppose happened? A truck load flipped over??

yesterday around here a semi full of frozen fish lost its brakes or otherwise somehow wrecked coming off of a freeway off ramp, went over a small wall, across a bike trail and down into the river! I went by the spot later in the day when the truck was already gone, but much of the spilled fish was still being cleaned up. The lady who told me I could go through was right - it was a big pile of fish....

LLB, what are your tires like now? Are you leaving white sticky spots everywhere you go?

How funny! Both stories. Hmm, would you rather have your bike dotted with sticky sugar goo or rotten fish?

Ewwwwww!

I thought it was rather ironic that the frozen fish ended up back in the river - apparently this is the second time one of these trucks has crashed in the same spot (there is a fish packing plant nearby). Are the fish trying to tell us something......

Actually, there was a sort-of line of the marshmallows across a driveway where it meets the road. (A marshmallow barrier or charm or ?
Man, and I thought MY family dynamics were weird!)

I became fascinated by the one marshmallow stuck on my front tire, watching it wear away and making little side bets with myself about when it would disappear entirely.

A few years ago, for a family activity, we and another family made marshmallow "blow guns" from pvc pipe. Some were very elaborate others, simple. We decorated them, filled ziploc-with-string strap bags with mini marshmallows and wreaked havoc on each other and the neighborhood. It was especially fun to attack one of the neighborhood cops and his family with marshmallows. :p

The next day and for several days after, one could follow our path of destruction by viewing all the marshmallows in the road.

Perhaps you encountered an enormous battle?? :D
