I've never seen this addressed and thought maybe this would be the best place to ask. What do you do during long rides (50+ miles) when you need to use feminine protection. I'm imagining some serious chafing from a string but can't think of any viable alternatives.
Thanks

I've done long all day mountain bike while having my period, and have never had any problmes from the string. I don't consciouly "tuck it away" but that seems to be where it goes.
There was a good thread in the tips section, check the "embarassing question " thread for lots of discussion of options on this issue.

good question! I have been using instead, soft-cup inserts. You can find them at any drug stores. http://www.softcup.com/
I find them very comfortables during long distance rides, more comfortable than tampons and you can wear them for up to 12 hrs!

Thanks!
I've never heard of them before. I'll definitely give it a try.

Another suggestion, put your extra protection into a ziplock sandwich sized baggie, then if you have to change anything, place it all into baggie. Neat and tidy!
