View Full Version : Need white jersey -- quickly!

I'm on an email list with people all over the US and one person in England.

Today one of our members posted that she has cancer.

Since I'm riding in the LIVESTRONG in Austin on Oct 8, I suggested that if I could find a white jersey or tshirt, maybe we could mail it from one to the other, hoping to all get it signed and back to me to wear in the race -- then wash (of course) and give to our friend as a show of our love and support for her.

Our group has kind of adopted "blue" as out color, so I assume it would have to be either white or a very pale blue so that we could all sign in dark blue markers or sharpies or something.

I'd really rather wear a jersey of course, but I can't spend that kind of money to wear once and give away.

Does anybody know where I might find a cheap white or light blue jersey that I could buy quickly? Sleeveless or short-sleeved.

Otherwise I'll resort to a white t-shirt.

Yikes.

Thanks!

I do not know how hot this would be to ride in, but my son loves running in shirts I picked up at Target. They wick the sweet from him (he runs cross country and it is humid here). The brand is Merona and they were not that expensive. What I do not care for is they are long in the torso. Granted, these are not jerseys. Target carries quite a lot of Women's athletic clothing for decent prices. You may want to check there.

Thanks -- I never thought of checking there.

Right here! Team Estrogen has a ton of blue jerseys, and quite a few white ones too. If nothing suites your fancy, try Performance. They have a store-brand jersey that's rather plain that should do as well.

I've got my eye on a light blue one here on TE that I may use -- I need to keep the price down, and this one looks like it might work, plus I know TE is FAST.

I often wear Russell Athletic Dri Power sleeveless and short sleeve shirts to bike in. I get them on sale at Modell's for $12.99 (though online it looks like they're $24.99). Really comfortable.

Pooks,

One of the quickest ways to get a white jersey is simply to buy an underarmour jersey. They are available practically at any sport store. You will not have any pockets but you can get a bento box. Just a thought.

Hi there!

Target was my first thought, and I see that Jennifer mentioned it.

Because I cannot afford expensive shorts and shirts, I purchased my shirts at Target.

Here is the one that I got:

(I see that this is only showing a size "small", but if you live near a Target, go check them out).

Peace & Love,

Denise

Son of a gun, Denise! I have that exact same shirt! It's very comfy and I like it a lot, but I never would have called it WHITE! I think of mine as more like lavender!

Hi Everyone!

Karen - Yeah, I noticed that too. The picture is showing the lavender color, but their advertisement states the white one. I have both the lavender & white, and they really work quite well in wicking away the sweat - for that price you can't go wrong :) . The shirt also came in orange.

Triskeliongirl - Do the jerseys from nashbar have elastic at the bottom? It's a very nice looking shirt, has 3 pockets - not to mention a great price. Thanks for letting us know about it!

Have a great night!

Denise

I don't have exactly that one, I bought another one that is a yellow mash with black trim but the style appears identical. I think I only paid $12 for it, and no it did not have an elastic hem, but it fit well (and I have curves and hate elastic hems). To me the fit and sizing ran very much like shebeest jerseys that also work well on my body. I love having the 3 rear pockets, and the ones I bought (I grabbed 3 at that price) have held up great to washing, better in fact than some of my more expensive sheebeests, and are very breathable, visible, etc..

The Target wicking shirts don't fit me very well. The XL is too tight in the arms and the chest, and they don't make bigger sizes. So, if you're a bigger gal, Target might not be your best bet.

I did order some jerseys from Performance that fit fine (and were inexpensive) but they took FOREVER to get here.

Okay -- after much discussion our group has decided to do something different, so I won't need that shirt.

One member is going to cut out white fabric hearts and mail them to everyone, and everyone will sign them and decorate if they wish, then send them to another member of the group who is going to iron them all on a royal blue t-shirt so our friend can "wear our love" when she's getting chemo.

Doing it this way, we can use a plain shirt and since I won't be wearing it to ride, it won't have to be wicking or hi-tech.

I think this sounds like it's going to be great, and at least I got the ball rolling by offering to do the ride-thing!
