I'm sure most of you saw my report (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=9548)over on "Adventure Stories", but this one picture is too good to bury over there. This is me & Mr. HotRod himself before the start of the Dual in our Amici Veloci jerseys. Note my horrible racoon eyes. And no, the matching helmet and shorts thing was not planned!

The ride started at "civil twilight" (which means you legally don't need lights), 6:29 am. As we hit Red Canyon, the sun was coming up and the team photographer got a few shots of us riding up the bike trail to Bryce. That's Rod in the lead and me in the mustard yellow jacket desperately trying to keep his wheel.

There's a reason they call it Red Canyon:

Our photographer kind of slacked off but he did get a few more pictures, most of which indicate that I am in agony. Here's a good example of how I felt (and how nice someone else's calves are :p ). This was at the end of the first 107-mile loop. My tummy was not happy:

The results are posted on the Desperado Dual website but they don't have photos yet. Hopefully I remembered to smile for the photographer (while I was trying not to gag on Hammer Gel).
