Hey girlies!

I'm moving to Chicago on Saturday and I was hoping to get some last-minute pointers pointers on moving my bike. Tragically, I don't have a rack on my car, which will be pretty full for the ride as it is. So, my plan was to have the movers put it in the van with all my other stuff. Are there any special precautions I should take? I'm worried about disassembling it too much b/c I don't know if I'll be able to put it back together again.

Any tips or suggestions???

P.S. BTW, packing S-U-C-K-S. :-)

My suggestion is to take it to your LBS and get them to box it for you. This should cost $30 - $40. Once you get to Chicago, you can reassemble or again have a shop put it back together. Do not let the moving company touch your bike unless it is in a box.

And mark it fragile so that it will be on top of the load rather than under the china hutch.

If your bike club or bike shop loans out hardshelled bike cases, see if you can use one and mail it back.

i just wanted to say Congrats! i was in Chicago in May and the one Park( i think it's Grant Park) has excellent places to ride. i saw bikers all over and there was a lot of room for them to ride on the wide sidewalks and underpasses.
