Is anyone here on TE riding this one? or rode it in previous years? I'm riding it for the first time, and would appreciate your comments, suggestions, and training routines for it.
Thanks, Patty

Patty -
This will be my third year riding in Columbia. The last 3 have been hot, so prepare with a lot of fluids. Also expect hills and some bumpy tar/gravel roads - not many but a few. Be careful at the first couple of rest stops on day 1. They are the busiest with many new riders not aware of the etiquette of pulling in and out of a rest stop.
Will you be riding the 40, 75 or 100 mile option?

Thanks Bikemom, for the info.....I'm planning to do 75 on Sat. and then depending on how I feel, I'll either do 40 or 75 on Sun. If it's over 90 degrees, I'll probably stick to the 40. I'm planning on taking my small Camelbak, so I can take periodic sips of water, I'm not one to stop at rest stops, because I tend to get alittle stiff. I just started riding in March, so I'll need to review the safety etiquette.
How many miles are you planning on doing? Where do you do your training rides? Are you on a team? My husband and I are on his company's team, "Team McCarthy" riding for an employee who has MS. Out of 20 of us, only 1 has ever ridden the MS 150.
Our team has been doing training rides in Madison Co....but I need extra work on "rolling hills". Can you suggest some parks in St. Louis Co or St. Charles Co. where I could ride and get some extra hill experience? I REALLY appreciate the advice.

Patty -
I plan on doing 75 both days. I'm not as strong riding this year as last; however, I know I can handle both days. I'll be riding for Team Alpine Shop. We are actually expecting our jerseys in the end of August.
Check out this website for MO training rides: http://www.2wheeltech.com/biking/gmap.php
Click on routes, then all. You will see thousands of training rides available in Missouri. The creator of this website is very active in St. Louis racing. Alpine Shop's MS 150 training ride is approximately 35 miles. We set it up to have some challenging climbs. Probably for you it might be difficult to make it into Kirkwood.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the ride info, I'll spend some time on the site. We live in St. Charles County, but I don't mind traveling for good rides. Today I'm riding Creve Couer (sp) Park today. I'll look for your team in Columbia.
Thanks again, Patty

I have my own team - Horton-Morris. Anyone is welcome to join us. This team formed after I was dxed with MS in Sept.05... We rode the 40 mile last year and this year our goal is the 75 mile each day.
The weather was beautiful last year. I'm hoping it's just as good this year!
