I'm reading Sally Edwards' Triathlongs for Women and there is a word I wanted to share with everyone (not sure if this is coypwriting or not), but it was inspirational and I will definitely use it while training.

:D :D "Faido" :D :D

Sally writes ( tried to paraphrase) that while doing the Ironman in Japan, the spectators kept yelling Faido. She was in the 3rd part of the tri, and running in 2nd place. So, she thought Faido meant 2nd place. However she asked a friendly japanese man what it meant and he said "to fight". Then she was startled and thought that meant to harm the other person in 1st, but he graciously explained that it means "to fight against the inner part of yourself".

So if you ever begin to question yourself why you are putting your body through this and forget why you started tri-training in the first place, just remember ---- "Faido". Yell it outloud wherever you are (even if people look at you funny) and remember back why you started doing this in the first place!!! We do it to be healthy!!! We do it for the love of the sport and the internal fight inside of us!!! We do it for the pain and the glory!!! Whatever your reason, just don't ever forget it!!!!

Thanks for sharing!

I know I was fighting when I had 20 miles of headwind... and I hit my granny gears on the flats... a few weeks back. :o

That's great! I'll keep that in mind. Faido!
