Same commute, different day. Rather uneventful, but a nice ride.

Yesterday I rode for the first time in a month; today I got on the bike again. Started out as bad as yesterday, but once I got warmed up was a wee bit better (not much). Stuck to the flats and still only did 13 miles, but I guess you have to (re)start somewhere!

I dutifully got up at the crack of dawn, after a particularly poor night of sleep (dinner & wine of course), for a ride.
It started ok, my legs fine and I was cruising along at a decent rate. When I got into the climbs though, the road conditions became alarming - huge piles of rock, mud, and gravel - from last night's rain. I did the climb up sunset canyon road and then called it quits as the rain began to fall. We've been getting sooooo much rain, more than in years I'm told, it is a bit disconcerning!

It's pouring here today so I'm going to be a wimp and do an hour on the trainer.

This is my first time posting in the daily rides, but I just wanted to share what I nice commute I had this morning. It was humid (for these parts) and slightly chilly, but it was awesome because it was my friend's first time riding to work! She's been riding for about 2 months now and decided she was ready to tackle the ride. I rode the 5 miles to her house, picked her up, and off we went for the 15 miles to work. She did so good, she got right on the fast highway and tromped through the scary intersection like a pro. She's so much faster than the last time we rode together, I'm so proud of her. We rolled into the parking lot and she told me she was surprised at how easy and fun it was. Yay! Another commuting convert. :D

Once again I tortured myself climbing to Sundance Ski Resort. I had to get back home earlier than the group, so I didn't make it to the mountain's summit today. Boy, am I glad I went home early! The group I was riding with got caught in a rain/hail storm. They had to descend the mountain on wet roads, which made for bad braking and fishtailing back wheels. Scary!
Luckily, since I missed the storm, I was able to top my fastest speed record--46 mph!

I rode to school, roads were wet from the rain that fell sometime during the wee small hours of the morning. The sun came out this afternoon and it was beautiful here in Kentucky. The skies were blue, a big high pressure system parked over us. A gentle breeze blowing, low humidity and temps in the mid-80's. I was not sure where I would go after school or how far. I quickly discovered my legs are very tired, still recovering from the century on Sunday. I rode to the little town, Bagdad and found my legs feeling a little better so I kept going. In the end I logged 28 miles today and averaged 15.1mph, certainly not my fastest ride but also not my slowest.
