Ok, so after all this talking along with me getting a flat last weekend on the club ride I was really desperate to learn how to change flats on my own. There are two types of people theoretics and practitioners, well I am a theoretic. I have to research and read everything first, gather the facts in my mind, sort it out and then practice. That's exactly what I did, I found a site along with TE article, read it, sort of imagined it in my mind while looking at my bike, came home and DID IT on my rear wheel. It's not as complicated as it seems, once you get started everything seems very logical, especially I was confused and scared about putting the wheel back, but no it went fine. Well ok , I seriously deserved that Mochi Ice cream today :D :D :D

Woo hoo! You're now ready to handle one when it comes your way!!!! Hopefully you won't be like me and have 3 flats on your very first "flat day." :) 1 or 2 I could've handled, but 3 was too many.

WOW 3 is a lot, I mean I sort of broke in sweat after changing one, well it took me about 30 minutes.
Good for you!!! WOO HOO!!! Now I need to get hubby to walk me through it and teach me how. I am one that has to do something first hand a few times or at least once in order to actually feel I have learned it.
Good for you! It's a great feeling of freedom and power. Now you can go anywhere. You may need to change your screen name soon! I am not sure you still qualify as a fresh newbie! :D

I had a crash-course in changing a tube on Tuesday, when both of my tires flatted simultaneously. I knew how to do it in theory. I had watched my husband do it a few times, with him explaining every step. But I had never actually changed one myself.

I found that changing a flat on the bike is just like changing a flat on the car. There's a mystique built up around the process that makes it seem very intimidating. Then, the first time you have to do it, you realize just how simple each step is. It's not necessarily easy, but it is simple. After that, the scary mystery of it is gone and it becomes nothing more than a pain in the butt.
I'm just grateful that my first flat ocurred in my living room one day as I was leaving for a ride, so that I could do all my first-time cursing in private ;)

I so agree, but I actually thought it was fun to change the tire, maybe I will change my mind once it's outside of my air conditioned appartment!!!
