pump question / co2 question

Does anyone have advice on whether a road morph pump can be mounted to the top of the top tube? My frame is so small it does not fit under the top tube or along the seat post part of the bike - especially with water bottle cage which I am loathe to remove as hydration is a happy thing. I have never used co2 cartriges - but may switch as they will fit in saddlebag - but I fear not knowing how much air I have put in resulting in popped tube or under inflation pinch flat. Are these fears unwarranted? Thanks.

I use the Crank Bros. mini pump - it fits into my seatpost bag.

Also, you should be able to mount your pump along with the waterbottle cage - use the same screws to hold the pump bracket underneath the cage.

The road morph comes with a different kind of attachment standard but I've read elsewhere here that you can get a new mount so it would fit alongside your bottle cage. The problem I had with the mount mine came with was it stuck too far out from the frame. I used the mount of an old pump which was more like a strap system that held the pump tight against the frame. So long as I position it carefully mine fits on the side of my seat tube with just enough room for the cranks to pass.

yes it could - the mounting bracket can go just about anywhere.....what size frame do you have? Mine is a 47 and my road morph fit under the top tube just fine. I've got a side entry water bottle cage on there right now but I may look into switching that out since it didn't hold my water bottle in place (oops). I used to be a Huge fan of CO2 and never had a pump until the day my cartridge gun broke while I was trying to inflate a tire on the side of the trial and I was up the proverbial creek. I had several cartridges and no way to get the CO2 into the tire. I bought myself a road morph the next day and have never looked back.

Any room behind your seat tube? That's where I mounted mine--but my bike is a touring bike, with a longish wheelbase, so I guess not all frames will have that much clearance between the seat tube and the rear tire. Still, it's worth taking a look.

Thanks for the suggestions - it sticks out too far to put with water cage - i hit it when pedaling. I will look into other suggestions.. I really like the pump although I could switch if I have too - but it is a great pump to use.

FYI - there are co2 cartridge inflators that allow you to put as much or as little co2 in your tire as you want.

I don't have one of those and have never had trouble popping a tube. For my road bike, I use 12 g cartridges and put the whole thing in works perfectly and for my mountain bike, I use 16 gram cartridges.

Everyone here seems to be leary of co2 - I love it ! It is easy, I never have to worry if my pump works or not. Most small pumps are so hard to pump it is such a pain to fill a tire. I usually carry two cartridges with me.

The only thing I recommend to people is to use them once or twice before you get on the road and find out you don't know how to use your inflator. I made this mistake the first time I used mine out on the trail years ago.

I had the same problem. I have mine mounted to the top of the top tube right now. I'd like it next to my water bottle like I have on my mtb but I haven't figured out how to do that. I absolutely LOVE this pump - by far my favorite bike gadget purchase!!

I would be loath to pass up a chance to point out that when loathe is a verb it gets the final e, but when it's not, it doesn't :) LIke bath and bathe, wreath and wreathe, ... path and pathe??? Math and mathe???

Breath and breathe! You must have a tiny bike- I got my RM (road morph not running mommy) under the top tube on a 47" frame. I can only fit one bottle, though. So I think since I can have only one, it needs some red aluminum screws as seen in some other thread...

what type of bottle are you using? I have a 47 frame with a slightly slanted top tube and I'm able to fit 2 cages and the road morph in the frame.....but - I use the short fat water bottles.

I use my polar bottle - the larger ones.
