there she is - I pick her up tonight. and I still can't believe I went and bought a brand-new road bike. an honest-to-pete never been ridden before, feels like it was built just for me bike. The bike is a she, no name yet - I've only test ridden her but I gotta tell ya, I now understand what all the hype is about the WSD frames. I've always ridden mens bike, for years that was the only choice one had. The 89 Trek 1100 I'm riding right now is a 50 cm mens and I love that bike and have put Many Many miles on him but he was still just a titch too tall. The new one? A 47 cm. I had them set the seat kinda sorta near the height I like, hopped on and thought I was in a recliner. Man what a sweet ride......and the handlebars were all wrong and the seat was just a touch too high. We had to take all the spacers out of the stem in order to get it low enough, lowered the seat to my preferred height, and rotated the bars down slightly. Every time I climbed on her the ride just got better and better. She's having the brake cables switched right now, Look pedals put on, I'm changing out the seat (someone needs to tell Bontrager their seats are NOT built for riding LOL {heck even Lance doesn't ride a Bontrager saddle}), a computer and I'll pick her tonight. Everyone Please pray we don't get rain Today in my lovely state, I want to take her out for a spin when I get home.............
someone pinch me please, I still can't believe I just bought a brand, spanking new bike......................

2007 Trek 1000-T WSD
(yup it's a 2007, they had Just got it in and the owners let them display it coz it was the only 47 they had in stock, well until I came along......now they don't have Any 47s in stock - again! lol)

:D Yay for new bikes! Here Here!
In fact, I'm almost positive I saw this bike, the cute looker in the corner, sporting that sleek 47 frame. I test rode a, ahem, 57 Trek 1000 wsd and really liked it - that was a few weeks ago.
Like you, I can ride a men's bike but have really noticed how the subtle changes on a woman's bike make it way WAY better.
I'm happy for you - new bike, just waiting to be ridden up and down Tramway or wherever else you venture :)

I know what you mean about the Bontranger saddle - my Trek came with one too but it didn't stay on for long.

Congratulations!! It looks lovely! Just curious what your height is - I was wondering if the women's bikes work well for taller than average women??

I would say try them out. I did not fit quite right on the WSD bikes I tried, but the Trek 1000 (I forgot who used the phase "manbike"-yet I love it) fit me like a glove.

I tried a 47, I really tried to convince myself a 47 was perfect. SIGH. I am a 50, and as soon as I tried her, I just new. I assume it is the same with your bike. Enjoy her! If you come up with good names let me know. My bike is sadly, nameless. I am taking her out now-I was too ill to ride the last two days.

It only looks like the main link - when you click "USA" and "English" it takes you directly to the WSD prettiness.
Ever so sweet and divine!!!

Ooooooh, I love my 1000 WSD!!!!!! Is she the Mystic Duotone color scheme? That's what I have, just got her a couple of months ago. :D
Enjoy her!!!!!
Ahhh, what a beautiful bike! Is she blue, as in the picture? Looking forward to pictures of you two together! ENJOY :D !!!

cinanamon - I think you just have to try the bikes basically. I'm 5'10 - I test rode a 56 Trek 1500 man-bike and a 57 Trek 1600 WSD - the WSD bike wasy way WAY better! The shifter find my hands far better, the seat offered at least some support (if minor), and I wasn't totally stretched out to reach the bars.

Hooray for you:D New bikes are such fun to get:cool: Enjoy her!
I'd pinch ya, but don't think I can reach. HA! HA! my attempt at humor. LOL
Okay, I am jealous, what a beauty. Is it that color? I love that color. DH was looking at a trek catoloug for me a new bike. It will be sometime down the road but that color was the one I was drooling over, only mine would be a mountain bike or a hybrid. I live on a very out of shape gravel, dirt, cleachy, whatever you want to call it road, and I don't think a road bike would fair to well on it.
Anyway, off the subject, sorry. Congrats and have a great time on the new bike.

Cinnamon, just to second what Cassandra said--my neighbor is 6 feet tall, and she still finds a woman-specific bike more comfortable than a "manbike."

AWESOME!!! Congrats on your new ride! I'm sure she'll be telling you her name very soon. I hope you have many miles together starting with her maiden voyage tonight. :D
PS: If I ever get the sweet Pilot 1.2 WSD I've been lusting after, she's already told me her name.... She's Lava Red so her name will be Pele http://www2.trekbikes.com/bikes/bike.php?bikeid=1404003&f=2

Corsair:
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Everyone is getting new bikes..... She's gorgeous, Corsair. ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY..............
There are so many bike manufacturers out there, it can get really confusing. I've ALWAYS heard such wonderful things about TREK bicycles. I've never heard anything bad about them. In fact, should I ever take that next step into researching a road bike, I would be highly interested in a TREK, but.....I'd also be EXTREMELY CONFUSED.
TREK has so many different models -- there's the "Alpha Aluminum", "OCLV Carbon/2R9000", "Pilot", etc......
Should that time come, I definitely know where to ask for advice ;)
Keeping my fingers crossed that you don't get any rain.... HAVE FUN!
Have a great day.
