I'm a believer!

I sent my beloved right-foot Chaco Z2 (only 3 years old) that my dog ate back to Chaco to be repaired.

Got it back today! It's as good as new! Even though when I talked to the repair folks over the phone they said my web was out of stock (too old) someone must've found some, and they used it! (I'd said it was ok to use black to repair what my dog ate.)

Good as new (and washed, too) for only $8!

Now I've got to get my Z1's (7 years old) resoled. That'll cost me $40. Well worth it! They are so incredibly comfortable, and the dog hasn't eaten the straps off them yet.

Chacos are bar-none the most comfortable footwear I own. They make a (men's) fisherman's sandal that I'd like to get for work. Gotta have closed toes for work.

If you have Chacos, don't forget that they can be repaired! www.chacousa.com 1-970-527-7413.

Hmmm, I wonder if Teva can replace the footbeds on my beloved Pretty Rugged nubuck sandals.

Very cool. I'm all for repairable shoes, which is why I have like 7 pairs or so of Birkenstocks:o One pair is 20 years old and has been resoled a few times, another is about dead (daily wear shoes) but I can't bear to part with them. I have one pair of Chacos, but they haven't worn out yet. For some reason, they don't feel as comfortable to me as I thought they would. Feet are so persnickity that way, LOL.

Yeah, feet have their own minds...

I wore Tevas for years (since back when they came in S M L and XL!), but my feet like Chacos better. I've had a few pair of Birkis, but still the Chacos suit my feet better.

Darn Birki for dumping my favorite lines (Charleston, All-Pro). I can't even get soles for my All-Pro's anymore.

I love it when companies make shoes that can be REPAIRED. What a waste it is for us to have to toss a pair of shoes that only need a new sole or a new strap.

Hooray for repair! Hooray for Chaco and Birki and Dave Page (a cobbler who specializes in repairs and rebuilds).

I do believe in repairable things. Always resole my hiking boots when I wear them out. Funny thing, though, every pair I've gotten resoled has died about a year later. Maybe it's the change in flexibility, but the leather uppers break down and fold and start giving me blisters. I'm now within a year of getting my Limmers custom-made boots - been on the waiting list for 4 years.

I absolutely love Chaco's. My son is on his 3rd pair since his feet keep growing. The cool this is they will sell me mismatched sizes. His current sizes are 13 left and 10wide right. They also added extra length to the straps for his high volume feet. They are the best.

Check out the "Andale" fisherman. He could wear those year round.

That's cool they do the mixed size pairs. I'll have to tell my patients.

KnottedYet - thanks for the link on the year round versions. I know Chaco will willingly mismatch their Z-sandals. These are easy for them to sell individually due to their process of building them. I do not know if their Andale sandals would qualify. I can check with our inside rep at Chaco.

ahh, I'm glad you got your Chacos back safe and sound. My ZX1's are a little over 3 years old and they need to get re-soled (living in Arizona for most of that time, I wear them year-round!). I'm missing some small chunks at the toes from my klutzy tripping on things, plus the soles are nearly gone at the very back of the heels since I roll my feet so much in my stride. I'm so hesitant to ship them away, though, my Chaco's are the best thing that ever happened to my feet/posture! I have a leg-length discrepancy so I have a 9/16" lift in my left sandal, put there by a cobbler who works directly with Chaco. Love-love-love them.

Has anybody tried on the Chaco Ped Shed and Toe Coop? I admit, I'm intrigued:)

I've had one pair re-soled (sole came off when I put them in the dryer, before I realized I shouldn't do that) and one pair re-webbed after the puppy chewed up the straps.

Very quick, reasonably priced, and I got to change the color of the straps. The resoling was a warranty repair, which was even better.

I love Chaco.

My oldest pair is too worn to be repaired :( Wore the sole down past the part that they can replace.

But they really and truly are my absolute favorite shoes - only sandals/flip-flops I can find that will cinch down small enough for my long but incredibly flat feet.
