Do you have stuff on your bed, that's just there for decoration, you know fancy pillows, stuffed animals, that sort of thing?
I use to collect stuffed animals when I was younger. I currently have 5 stuffed animals that live on my bed. The animals are:
The first teddy bear I got as a kid that was not a hand me down. His name is Fonzi. A bear Thom bought for me when we were in high school and he went to France. His name is Thom, pronounced with a French accent. A bear and a bunny that are a set, other than being different animals, that Thom got on a trip to Washington. Their names are Bear and Bunny. A rabbit, with no name, that his parents gave us to celebrate our first Easter in the house.
Then I have 4 hand made pillows. Two that my third grade teacher, next door neighbor, kind of responsible for making me who I am in a good way, made. One that my aunt made and one that my high school Latin teacher made.
Somehow all this stuff ended up on the wrong side of the bed one morning and Thom stacked it all neatly under his side table. It just kind of cracked me up that he refused to put it all back on the bed. He 'd much rather it all went away.

Yes. My rabbit and my husband´s teddy bear seem to get along quite well. Not sure what they talk about when we are at work though:)

The only "decorations" we have on the bed are the real Border Terrier and Border Collie who reluctantly allow us to have approx 6 inches of the queen size bed to sleep.

Um, yeah I have to admit some space is dedicated to the two dachshunds. The short-hair has to have his own pile of blankets. :) One is a leopard design, though. I'm less froo-froo than my GF, so I would be the one putting stuff out of sight. So I say - hold your ground and put them back on the bed! What are spouses for except to mildly drive each other crazy...

I have a couple of things I'd LIKE to put on my bed but I don't know where to put them when I take them off at night. Our dogs sleep in our room and they like to chew on stuffies that might be laying around, and of course, there's dog hair all over the place so I don't like putting extra pillows on the floor...

My cat sleeps with us. Actually she takes up a 1/3 of the bed. For something so tiny she certainly can stretch herself out when sleeping. Otherwise nothing is on the bed except an old Amish Quilt and an afghan my grandmother knit for me decades ago.

We just have two pillows each and two very lazy miniature schnauzers. The dogs insist on so much room we had to upsize our bed to a king! Actually it was planned since we got married because DH is 6'2" and a I am bed hog, but blaming the dogs is more fun!
I keep a couple stuffed animals on top of my dresser, they are all very sentimental to me. A stuffed pig DH bought me for our first dating anniversary, my college Mascot from my late Pawpaw, an elephant my college roommate gave me, a Rottweiler DH got me, an Eeyore from Animal Kingdom and another Teddy Bear from DH. Plus a stuffed dog lives on the floor, I got him before DH would let me get a real dog.
Nothing on the bed except the two cats, when they feel like it. My teddy bear, "T-bear", sits on the dresser. There's a picture of me at about one month old, face down in my crib, with T-bear sitting on my back. I have a feeling this one was posed. Now, of course, we'd call that picture of me in the crib SIDS waiting to happen! :p but since I survived it, I call it really cute. T-bear was all fluffy and had a bow and everything. Now she's mostly bald and scrawny. I have taken her with me all over the world, and still take her to the window to show her the first snow fall every winter. T-bear has a little rattle in one of her feet. That's how she talks. She's very wise. :)

Okay, so I've gone a little too far but my bed is covered with stuffed animals. They all have names, and all have "personalities" - the collectible Grimace from McDonalds likes french fries, the ancient teddy bear likes to go on adventures, the little otter is a spy (and he usually goes in my pack when we go hiking and gets photographed at the summit), the snowman wants us to move further north, and so on.
Yes, I'm an adult. Yes, I'm married. Yes, my husband has actually picked out and even named many of them. Yes, I know I need therapy. :)

We *have* a stuffed foxy who I cuddle with sometimes, but she 'guards' the bed alcove, mostly... GF is an "active sleeper" and will simultaneously steal blankets/remove anything 'in her way' in her sleep... or wrap me up in blankets and hold me down if I'm tossing/turning too much... so our sheets have to be well-tucked and one pillow each. Every time the well-made bed is turned into a disaster area, I look at her (or vice versa) and say "This is why you can't have nice things!" :p Though... I think she gets to say it to me more. :D
who could ask for a more cuddly toy? :D

The "toys" do not stay in the bed at Chez Knot.
The bed is for the dog, the books, the laundry I forgot, the 3 pillows, the neck roll, a couple squeeky dog toys, a couple pairs of forgotten socks, and for some odd reason my cable bike lock. Soon to be removed.

cool! During this last heat wave, when temps soared close to 100 and the air was so humid you could cut it with a knife, I took to checking the weather at assorted towns in Alaska and other "far north" locations, just to remind myself that there are still places that don't suck.
My favorite, though, was the one report from the summit of Mt. Washington at 3:00 pm - 62 degrees, winds at 40mph with gusts to 50 mph. Yikes.

Well it's only kinky the first time  cable lock? hmm.
I have a stuffed cocker spaniel with a bell in her ear on the night stand, I don't recall her name. Mom tells me this was my favorite stuffed animal.
Have one of those cylindrical Japanese pillows, and regular pillows. The dog sleeps on the floor or is crated. She steals the covers. So if she's on the floor some will always end up under the dog.

Ok, la la la la laaaa back on topic sort of:
Do you put out your cycling clothes before a ride or just grab 'em and go?
I tend to have 2-3 outfits put together on a shelf at all times: shorts, jersey, socks, sports bra, vest. Got into the habit because if I ride to work, if I have to find 'em or think about it in the morning....I'm just not riding. So it's always there.
But that's not on the bed it's on the dresser.
Then there's the bag in the car for the dojo; gi, hakama, obi, knee brace, spare shirt...
Another bag in the car with spare stuff for cycling; just in case I get to the ride and forgot gloves, sunscreen....
I don't workout, I pack ;-)

back on topic, sorta, taking off from CWR...
I never give much thought to my ride stuff. If I'm going on a long one, I take my shorts (only one pair) or they're sitting where they dry in the laundry room. I have a special drawer for tanks and dry-fit clothes and otherwise just wear a wifebeater (in Euge. I've heard they're called 'man-beaters' if D.O.Bs wear them!) and cargo shorts... I'm pretty laid-back about my choice in clothes... :o
The dachsund and the half poodle/jack russell are part of the night time bed ritual and yes they do take up about half the bed or more. However no batteries that I can think of.

twin--I can't imagine that a doxie or jack russell/poodle would need batteries--they run on kinetic energy!
Sometimes I lay out my ride clothes the night before, but I almost always lay out my run clothes. If I don't, I pull on something else when I get up and don't just head out the door. Then it's too hot to run, etc. Best to get up and -----------> go. Riding I'm always more eager to do, but usually takes more prep.
My "athletic" clothes are on the same shelf, and they fraternize shamelessly. In theory, there's a stack of bike shorts, a stack of running shorts, and a stack of mixed tshirts and jerseys. Really, there's a mess. I know what everything is pretty much by feel! :p

One Green Lion (who goes by the same name) that I caught at the Zulu parade a few years ago, and who has a big belly (comforting to put my hand on when the BF isn't there with his belly) :D. Green Lion was recently joined by "Kissy Kat," and of course there are the three real kitties who frequently adorn (or hog) the bed.

(Geez, I read that as "Green Loin...")
On my bed, (king-size soft-sided waterbed in a sleigh-bed frame with wrought iron flowers and leaves in the middle of the headboard) I have a quilt I made for my mom over the footboard, seven pillows for me and four for BF, usually some jammies hanging on the footboard, and BF's contribution, a (real) coyote skin- head, feet, tail and all. We call him Mr. Coyote. He lays quietly at the foot of the bed. His fur is very think and soft. My mom collected bears- I have two that I gave her that I got back when she died, but they live on a chair. I also have a few Beanie Babies here and there.
I usually get my cycling clothes out the night before. I decide by wearing something I didn't wear last time. I always wear the same shorts, unless they are in the wash.

Two cats share my bed too. You are all right, pets take up way more room than they should, but I don't have the heart to tell my two loveable siamese they have to move. Sometimes I am even willing to take a smaller section of the bed than they have! One of my siamese, has to use one of my pillows too....and just for his head (he isnt curled up on it)! He sleeps with his head on the pillow, and then stretched long like a person beside me. It makes e laugh, so I put up with it.

We've got 3 poodles (a standard poodle, a miniature, and a cockapoo) and a Maine Coon cat. And they all sleep on the bed. Which is why DH and I have a California King bed - everyone sleeps on the bed, and DH and I would be on the floor if we didn't have the extra space. Because between the standard (who manages to stretch himself out to the largest size possible), and the Maine Coon (who requires a Certain Amount of Space From The Dogs), it is pretty cozy! But we'd be lost without them! :)

wow never knew there were so many people that sleep with their pets.
i tried sleeping with my two dogs while BF was away. didn't go so well. the big one that's my size took up a good deal of the bed, and the other one took up WAY to much bed. i had them on the top of the sheets so they tucked me in. though they tucked me in a bit to much. they lasted on the bed for about an hour before i kicked them off.
i like sharing the bed with either BF or my big body pillow when he's not there and the longer clean sheet day lasts the happier i am. i love clean sheet day.:)

Bed attire... fortunately I read the entire attire thread because I was gonna just punch reply as say:
"What attire? This dog sleeps nekkid..." So now ya know.
But I read... and laughed as the expected drift piled up. So, anyway, back to the question posed:
Assuming I remember to 'make' my bed, it gets 3 decorative chenille pillows (2 royal purple, 1 deep crimson), 1 red teddy bear and one purple Tinky Winky doll.
spazz
....and all this time I thought I had a lot of "stuff"! Considering the images in my head at this moment, our bedroom is very sleek and tidy!
Our bed has no extra pillows nor any other ornamentation. I would hate having to tidy it all up everytime one of the two huge border collies (much larger than average) or the two cats decided to move them about! Of course, the four of them are, at least during the cool nights of winter, ornament of their own. And, yes, it is truly amazing how much room one average sized cat can take!

You mean Tux the Linux penguin? I have one of those by my computer at home and a little clay penguin at work that my son made me. And yes, I use Linux. Thanks for the laugh! Thread drift, indeed! :D I have to admit to reading the question when it was first posed and thought - Well, since I hardly ever make my bed...:o Then... the drift! I could respond to THAT!;) But I won't. I'll just giggle... and wonder - yet again - what in the world will happen to my *toys* if something were to happen to ME! Of course, I wouldn't be around to care, but my dear sweet daughter may have a coronary!:(
Back to the original question, however... I always love the look of the beautifully made beds in the magazines. Have even gone so far as to buy all that stuff - pillows and all. Had a heck of a time keeping the silk duvet cover from slipping onto the floor, and no place to put the clothes that need to be folded!
We produced culturally deprived children when it came to bed attire. Never had bedspreads or anything nonfunctional on the beds. When my daughter was 4 we stayed in a motel and there was a bedspread. She asked what it was and we said that it was a decoration. She was most concerned that we not sleep on the decoration.

We have our bed adorned with a combination of one to two out of 3 kitties.
There are never all three at the same time.
"making" the bed means that someone pulled the blanket up to the pillows.
My husband (who was in the military) really tried to train me to MAKE the bed
but it did'nt work. My sons are even worse. They don't like sheets.
Sometimes i wonder how THEY find their beds. but I am digressing.
i lost all of my beloved stuffed animals when my mother ran off to California when I was 12 and left it to friends to sell all our stuff.
Since then my husband has given me a small assortment of stuffed animals (mostly cats of course) to replace those lost so long ago. They are smart stuffed animals; and do NOT
sleep on the bed.

I'm surprised by the number of pets on the bed here. :D Of course cats are excused, they go wherever they want.
My mutt sleeps on the floor or is crated, she's crate trained and she has HER stuffed animals in there, usually her fave a squeeky heart-shaped toy, and/or her favorite pink bear.
It's the whole alpha-animal thing, I'm the alpha, therefore I get the bed, she has her own furniture throughout the house. When if/ever the bed gets shared at some point in future Mutt remains the "omega dog". spoiled Omega dog but bottom of the pack nonetheless.
She's only been on the bed a couple of times, both in thunderstorms, she was very scared and I allowed it.
