... everybody on this board who have helped and inspired me. You have no idea how you have touched my life. My husband and I moved to Belgium almost 3 years ago. Before that we were in Germany for 8 years where I had a great job and people I knew. Since we have been here I have not worked and since we live so far out I really don't know anybody. I turned 50 last year and it hit me hard...... REALLY hard. I began to look at my future and thought that I had nothing to look forward to here. In may we sold my car ( at my insistance ) - it just made no sense to pay road tax and maintain a very high maintenance car when I only drove it once a week or so. I told my husband "get me a bike and I'll be happy" - so he did - and he got one too... then ( naturally ) it rained for 3 weeks straight - so I mucked around on the web and found this site and started reading all the posts. I was amazed at the diversity of the women here. There are so many inspiring people here and so many over 40 doing things I would never have thought of doing. I learned about things to do with a bike besides racing... like raddoneuring (sp?) and cycling clubs etc. THe more I read, the more I felt like "wow, I could do this!!" ... Now... I am starting a running program and looking for charity rides, raddoneuring information, triathlons, etc in Belgium. I feel so good about my future now and feel that I have something to plan for, goals to strive towards. I'm so excited!!
So.... to sum it up. Thank you all so much for helping me to see that as someone said in another of my posts 50 is really just a number :D I hope someday that I can meet some of you face to face....
