It's all the "whining weatherman's" fault. He mentioned taht the dewpoint was down 'cause of the outflow from thunderstorms that were near us, but that the storms were in counties x, y, and z. Otherwise, when I walked out the door and it was strikingly, delightfully cooler than it should have been, I'd have said to self, "That must mean those clouds there have RAIN in them." I considered the possibility, and the fact that I was picking up my computer... and proceeded.
Put 'puter in case, put case in backpack, started out. Saw dark clouds. Self said, "THose have rain in them." Self said back, "Yea, but it's just a couple clouds. They'll go some other direction. THey almost always do." (Did not, at that point, think, "But then, why is it all cool and stuff?")
Rain started. Self said, "Here's DUnkin' DOnuts." PUlled in. Asked for plastic bag. Lady smiled at got one. Put plastic bag over backpack. Did n't try to totally cover it - figured it was too big and that the rain was already abating.
Saw big fat umbrella wide open in middle of road. Pulled off and put kickstand down to at least remove it. In middle of road, hear "crash!" because that heavy computer is not on the kickstand side of bike. Backpack is in gutter, with river of water flowing around and through.
LIft bike. Fold up bumpershoot and place on grass. Ride to school. (Reason I had to bring 'puter: left text for online class at school. Could not do final project anyway last night, discovered *after* pouring Pete's nasty, warm, leftover coffee into body which never drinks coffee.)
The dang thing is unscathed. Prob'ly because it was still o n, and like most laptops, pretty warm.
So now I have to go see what I can do with this little project for the next hour. LEaving now...

Same commute, different day, nice temperature! Wish it would stay in the fifties, but NO! We have to pop back into the 90's. Grr!

Oh, but Tater, at least it's not popping back up into the hundreds!

I did a flat route today, plus I went for a new route than my usual flat one. Lot less traffic, but less speed! Darn! Then again my HRM showed I burned more calories, so it's got to better....

I decided to commute to work today on my Giro a nice ride though I was surprised at the traffic (only teachers/staff had to report today). As soon as we were dismissed today from our building I changed clothes and took the bike out for a longer spin. I felt pretty good on my recumbent today, in fact my average speed was much higher than it has been that is until I ran out of steam. All in all it was a very good ride and I felt strong and confident on my bike. I got in 22 miles today so I'm happy.

Nice night for a ride!

We went about 12 tonight, slogging through the chipseal gravel in our neighborhood. MUCH better when we got away from that! Our "destination" tonight is about 3.5 miles from home, but it's easy to ride about three times that through subdivisions. DH managed to weasel in every possible shortcut, keeping our miles down tonight -- last time we rode out there, we did twenty miles all told and it was 15 degrees hotter. He sure managed to shave off a lot -- too bad on such a nice night for riding!
