We live overseas with the military and I have had a great experience using my local German bike shop, buying a custom bike and ended up riding with the mechanic's wife. I was so thrilled about what I learned and experienced that I wrote about it, but so far Bicycling Magazine and a military newspaper turned me down. I'm not too concerned about the freelance income (though it would be nice), but would be very excited to publish it where new riders, especially women, can read it. Any publication suggestions??

You might want to contact Crystal at www.girlbike.com. She has a great site and might be willing to include your article. Good luck!

How about a travel mag or Outside. Maybe a magazine not focused narrowly on biking, but more generally oriented. Of course, if you don't find an big publishing company, we'd love to read it!

If you're looking for a place to publish articles about biking, or to publish journals about your bike tours, take a look at crazyguyonabike.com (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com) . Neil Gunton - the web master - has put together a great site for sharing information. It includes the tools to maintain and publish your own biking articles/journals, including journals and guestbooks.
If you'd like to see an example, I have a number of journals and a couple of articles posted there - click here (http://denisegoldberg.crazyguyonabike.com) for my home page at crazyguyonabike.

Wow, what a great site, Denise, thanks for posting the link. I'm enjoying reading through the tour journals, including yours.
