Hey everyone - I'm planning on riding a 24 mile loop from my house on Sunday ...
Down through Montclair to Temescal park - then up Old Tunnel Rd, along Skyline, down Redwood. and then back up Pinehurst to Skyline and then home. The ride has 2400 feet of climbing, and is a very pretty route. Maps will be provided!
Sadiekate and aka_Kim will be meeting up at my house at about 10, and we'll start shortly thereafter - if you'd like to come, please PM me and I'll send you my address and contact info.
There has been some discussion of possibly extending the route to a longer ride (if Bubba comes, he might wnat to do more distance and climbing, I hear). I probably won't be up for the extensions (after 46 miles on Saturday!:o ) but I'd be happy to help plot out longer routes if anyone is interested, or maybe other local TE-ers will come along who could lead any longer rides (I'm thinking of TomGrrl in particular)
Anyway - let me know if you'd like to come along!

Bubba would only come if someone else wanted to ride farther. Gosh, it seems so decadent to wait until 10 am to ride. I've been riding by 8 am or earlier so much lately, I won't know what to do with myself. Oh yeah, drive from ride to ride. Life's tough.
Thanks, BZ.

Edited to change that I'm having car issues. Hopefully it's just the battery. Stay tuned as the world turns but the engine does not.
aaa has just been here and knock on wood it's the battery and not the starter and or alternator. So i'm running the car for 1/2 hour than off to get the battery checked/replaced.
Edited to say...seems to be the battery, I'm back in bizness.

Wow, that sounds like a great ride! I used to do those roads all the time, lived in the Bay Area in San Leandro from 1985 to 1996. I'd love to come ride those hills again sometime.
Hope you all have a good time!:)

Only 69 in Oakland on Sunday?

Hmm, those short sleeve jerseys and armwarmers are at the bottom of the pile. What to wear, what to wear. Fashion statements on the bicycle are so important.

Well, one is sleeveless and I don't think that'll happen at 66 degrees.

PS - you're getting mighty bossy in your old age.

Oh, too bad Ellen - maybe next time! Have fun with your kidlet! Isn't this fog wonderful?

yes indeed....I rode Tam today and was very happy. I eventually rose "above" the fog and actually saw sunshine, but the cool breeze was great. I'd tried to ride Tam last Sunday, but gave up due to the heat......there is a reason I live here and it's not for the heat!!! :-)

I hear ya! Today's Monterey ride was cool, foggy, misty pretty much the whole way and I was loving it!

Sorry TE gals, Mae (my mutt) felt it was her job to wake me up at least three times with crazy nutso barking last night. Preventing the home invasion by squirrels perhaps?
End result I'm tired, was going to clean and lube the bike before going ... I'm tired. I don't think I can get going in time, I'll probably head to the dojo.
Next time for sure!

Well, Sarah, Amy and I had a lovely climb up Old Tunnel Rd, and then, due to my tired legs, and what felt like remarkably warm and humid weather, we just carried on a bit to watch the gasping faces of the folks coming up Pinehurst, then returned home for a total distance of 10 miles or so.
I love this ride in its entirety, but unfortunately there's no way to shorten it - once you're out there, turning back is steeper than continuing. So thanks SadieKate and Dachshund for not minding a shorter loop - we'll do it again sometime, when I'm not pretending it's a recovery ride!

I had such a good time - short ride or not. New friends, old friends, friend's ride routes, new territory, temperate ocean breezes, lovely lunch. Thanks.
Now as long as Sickie didn't do too much sharing.
