Well I promised a ride report on that 236 mile trip I had over the weekend. It went well for me for the first 22 miles but the pace got to me and I had to slow down and got dropped. I had one of our support team pick me up and drop me off further up the road. I manged to hang on to the pace for another 13 miles but it was to fast. So my ride got cut really short. The pace ended up averaging 19.66mph for the whole ride. And our strongest male rider unofficially broke our west to east cross state record with a time of 12 hours and 28 seconds. The old record was 12hours and 7 minuets.
As far as my ride I averaged a little short of 22mph, I think it was like 21.87. The second half was a total of 21.37, at which point I was totally on my own with no draft. I just can't hold the pace they wanted for that long. Didn't help that we were riding into a slight headwind most of the time, it was coming out of the NNE at 10mph. Then about 170 miles into the ride it started to pour on the guys while they were flying up some good long hills.
I was very proud of myself I may have not got the other 200miles but that is by far my fastest average at that distance, normally it would be 17-18.5. We took off so hard at the beginning that I thought that I was going to throw up 10 min into the ride. Once I shifted up a few gears I was ok for a while.
