Is all of CA as humid as it is down here right now??? It's been weird... so wet out there it was hard breathing for a while this morning... we had thunder and lightning early, with a brief pelting rain shower that left the roads nice and wet for our early ride
just wondering if everyone is getting this weird humidity?

The Bay Area is still dry, but really hot. I guess we're in for some thunderstorms mid-week. I imagine SOCAL will get them first.

yep! it's awful... and add that to the desert heat... YUCK! my handy, dandy, new-fangled thermometer keeps the high and low... yesterday is the high... 128.4 degrees... 63% humidity... at 2:55 yesterday afternoon!
it's currently telling me the weather is getting worse (love that little feature too! as well as telling me wind speed! i love gadgets! lol!)

I just returned from three weeks in Bridgehampton, NY (east end of Long Island) and am sooooo happy to be back in the bay area.....nice and dry (and cool at night). I was so sick of showering, then drying off, then dripping until my next shower.....humidity is awful.
Went on a mtb ride on Tam today...it was hot, but oh so dry!!! :o
Not much humidity here but it's HOT! I did 14 miles today in the scorching sun. I was wondering why there weren't many riders on the trail and I realized it was because there were all smarter than I.

Yes! I even told myself that the constant complaining that I'm doing about the heat and humidity needed to stop and that I was going to go the whole day yesterday without mentioning it, but I couldn't do it. I'm ready for some cooler weather...pronto!
Right now it's 4:15 a.m. and I'm up early so I can ride when it's not so hot. It's already 73 degrees with 80% humidity. We're spending the day at waterpark later!

Brandy, in Tucson at 5:04 AM right now, it is 80 degrees and 50% humidity.
(OK, I'm not from Kahleefornyia - but can I play too?)
Our high will be over 100 degrees - again. We customarily go to San Fran for a vacation in the summer to let the heat escape our bodies.
I'm going to ride this morning with my three water bottles. You'd think I'd be getting stronger on the bike carrying all this extra weight! :(

You can have your Arizona monsoon season thankyouverymuch. :p All of our family is in the Phoenix area and I won't cross the border for a visit until late September, early October at the earliest! I keep complaining about the heat to my mom who just moved from here to there in March and then remember that it's probably falling on deaf ears. :D
Just back from my ride. Actually, I was done an hour ago but went to the gym to lift for a bit. That had to be the wettest, stickiest ride ever. My face was drenched the whole time. Tiff said that right before I pulled up she saw lightning in the distance.

I got up this morning, decided to actually style my hair, sat in front of the air conditioner while I blew it and curled it and once I walked away from the wall unit in my apartment (no central air darn it), I got all damp and sweaty and hair frizzed out and is now in a pony tail. Geez, if I knew I wouldn't have blown it in the first place.
Strangely it really hasn't affected my riding. I did 40 miles yesterday leaving at 8a and thankfully those clouds came in and provided some cover because the Club Ride I did was going inland to the foothills. The ride actually turned out to be very pleasant. I did tell the ride cooridnator had it been hot, I would have curse him all the way up El Toro to Portola!
I've also been doing alot of riding in the evening from 6 - 8a. Thankfully I get a little breeze then and can stay cooler. It's just those middle hours like from 11a - 5 p. Geez, not comfortable inside or out. My poor little wall unit is running non-stop.
I guess we still shouldn't be complaining. Where my folks live its in the 90's and rainy. Now that's hot and humid!

27% humidity is fine but direct sun at 108F just hurts. You turn to a pool of grease immediately.

I'l agree with everyone else that riding early in the am is the trick. Of course, when it's 72 at 5 am, that only helps so much

It's felt both oddly warm and cloudy and humid early. Maybe someone will sign the Kyoto treaty? Maybe not. Weather feels odd, I think as cyclists we are more tuned to the weather.
On days I ride to work the ride to is nice, on the way home can be very warm even at 6 or later on.

Hot... Yeah, this is Phoenix in July- so we get both hot AND humid!!
I had to fly to nor cal (brrr) the other morning, and as I pulled out of the garage for the airport it was 91 at 4:30 am!!!!
I was glad I wasn't riding that day!!
Saturday was a bit on the humid side, but not too bad for my 6:30 am ride. I'm sure it was at least 85 degrees, but it felt nice. However once I got around 2 hours it was clear it was time to pull the wheels up and head home. I actually felt a little ill when I stepped off my bike.
But my all time hottest was last week. It was 111 (yeah ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN!!!!) when I put my wheels down at 6:30 pm!!! On my way up the hill I didn't think I would make it, but I did manage an hour long ride. Tho I must say that I kept worrying about my tires exploding from the heat!!
It was also dry and I must say- not so fun!! That night I didn't see one other rider out! hmmm... wonder why??!!! :p
I think it had cooled down to 108 by the time I finished that ride.
Ohh yeah, summer is here!! For us zonies this is actually our off season, so nothing over 2 hours for this kid right now.

We haven't gotten the humidity yet, but it looks like it's on the way. I hope it helps clear the air. I know Sonoma County has fairly decent air quality, but it's much worse when it's hot and there are fires (the inversion layer I think the weather man calls it). Maybe I'm a wimp, but it had my eyes stinging a little. Spare the Air days suck for bike riding, which is sad as those are the only days they encourage people to stay out of their cars.

Yesterday as I sat in my office, I saw the cloud cover come in and I thought to myself "mmmmm, go ride tonight, it'll be cool out!". So I get home, change and decide to hit one of the local trails. Within 15 minutes I was totally soaked from head to toe. I had sweat dripping from my nose (yes so lovely!).
The only good thing about being so wet, after my climbs and I started the downhills, ooooohhhhh, I got cold! So the whole evening was hot, cold, hot, cold, hot, cold. About 7:30p it finally got really nice out and I enjoy the last hour riding around. I guess it's summer - boy I'm dreaming of Fall already!
