I've coveted one of these for a long time, even though I had no use for it.
Suddenly, it occurs to me that this would be perfect for cycling. Takes up little space and carries only the essentials.

Does anybody have one? Or something similar? What do you use?

I use the Jimi all the time. I carry 2 wallets - the larger one with the cards I don't use much and money, and then the Jimi if I just want to leave my purse in the house or car and just carry something in my pocket.
For cycling, I actually carry the jimi in a plastic bag along with some change, sunglass cleaner wipes, inhaler and some other stuff. I feel like the jimi is so small and smooth it might come out of my jersey. I know this is improbable, but I feel safer doing it this way.
I went to a small store in Tomales (a very small town) and when I pulled out my ziploc bag wallet the cashier said "All you guys have the same wallet!" :D

That's cool! Something else to add to the Christmas present list. . .

I love my Jimi!!
I gave one to Winddance, and she likes hers too!

I like it!
I use this one for long distance hiking when I want to go ultralight:

Otherwise it's a thicker hip pocket nylon wallet. The thicker wallet goes with me on most bike rides as it fits the jersey pocket just fine.

This is actually kinda embarassing. When I was hunting for something to carry, I ran across a little girls bike bag. I found it a Wally World. It's leopard print (as opposed to the pink and red flowers). It holds my cell, id, $, chewing gum, and it fastens to my front handlebars.

I have a weakness for leopard skin. My high school mascot was the Leopards. There is never anything embarrassing about leopard skin (even if my husband did say my leopard skin cowboy hat looked like it belonged to a hooker).

DebW -- I like that ultralight. I particularly like the travel wallet that has room for a passport, too. Very cool.

I've never seen those, but now I might have to pick one up. I've been using a cheap wallet like thing I got at on of those teenybopper accessories store (Icing or Topkapi). I figured whatever they had would be made out of some plastic-y sweatproof material. I've heard of people using the holders especially made for fishing licenses also--again they're water/sweat proof.

Oh, how neat - it looks very handy. The lanyard is a nice alternative if you aren't wearing a biking jersey and/or shorts with pockets.

How cool is that? I must remember these for gifts and for myself. :-)

Ok, I bit. I ordered 2 (one for me and one for DH). We'll see how they are IRL when they arrive. I always carry a small wallet in my back pocket like a guy, so I am already primed for the smallness of this thing. It sounds cool, and I like the colors:D

Please give a full report when they arrive. I was planning on getting several as well.

Let me know what you think. I know of several guys who love them, but haven't gotten the girls' reaction yet!

Will do. I got an email from them that they have shipped out and should arrive this week.

Thanks! What colours did you choose?

I picked the purple for myself and the orange for DH (he loves orange). If he doesn't like his and I do like them, I plan on using both of them, one for regular use and one for the extra cards that I don't need all the time.
If this is a hard plastic thing, it doesn't sound very comfortable in the hip pocket. Let us know.

I had enough trouble when I changed purses to be fashionable. I've leaned I do best if I pack considtently, even if it means I carry multiple bags. So, when I sail, I carry both a sailing and a biking bag. Of course things migrate, and I don't know where to put the gloves as I've been using the same gloves for both activities.
But now we change wallets? It would drive me crazy! I'd ALWAYS be grabbing the wrong one in my flight out the door...

I really want one- either the Glass Green or the Turquoise. (Which is weird- you'd think I'd choose pink or purple, my favorite colors...) And the little carrying strap.
Wait till payday...

Man...this place is dangerous to my checking account!
Yes, I just ordered one for me and one for DH. :D

I don't think I'll change when I get the Jimi. I think I'll just stick the Jimi into the "regular" wallet and go on. Or I may even put the Jimi on my keyring!

They have them at Performance too! On their web site, at least. And free shipping until tonight.

I've had a leather one in my hip pocket for about the last 10 years. Made by a couple of women in Saugatuck Michigan. I guess it would be considered a coin purse, it is just one main zip-shut envelope, with a smaller zip shut flat pocket on the outside. I keep money and cards in the main envelope and spare bike and car keys in the outer flat pocket.
(what does it say about me that I don't keep a spare HOUSE key in that outer flat pocket?)
Edit: I just googled, and I think the shop was Amaru Leather, 322 Griffin St. Saugatuck MI. (269) 857-3745. I can't find their website (if they have one) but found them listed in the gallery promotion. Cool shop, sturdy products, and Family friendly!

I really like my jimi. I have one for the bike, and one at work that I keep my "Cafeteria Card" in.

Ok, so we got them in the mail today, and we are sorta less than completely impressed:( They are too large, and too stiff to really go in a front pocket, and a back pocket is out of the question completely. My cell phone is smaller than these things. We each have a regular, but small, wallet now (his is leather, mine is nylon), and the Jimi is not an improvement over either one. The Jimi is larger than the wallets we have now, but also holds less and is stiffer. So no dice for us--I plan on returning them. I can see how they would work ok if you weren't planning on carrying it, and were using it in a purse or a bag of some kind, though. Also, I didn't really like the way the plastic snapped back together--kinda seems like it will fatigue quickly and break. I have had the nylon wallet for over 5 years and carry it daily in a back pocket, and it is holding up nicely. I would like something even *more* compact though, so I guess the search will continue.

Thanks for that report, Wren's Mom. I thought they were supposed to be barely larger than a credit card. That's disappointing!

Thank you for the review. I am sorry these will not work for you and your DH. What brand of nylon wallet do you have?

They'd be bad news for me. When I "compacted" and put the necessities into something tiny (a free nylon zipper thing) it was great except when it was M.I.A. which happened too often because it ended up in different pockets.

Wow, give them props for quick shipping, though! Wrensmom, did you order them on the 18th when you posted? And you received them yesterday?!
That's too bad that they are that big. I was picturing them just larger than a credit card as well. I guess I'll see how they work for us in a couple of days...

Yes, they did ship very quickly. They came via the post office, in a padded envelope. It's not that I have any problem with the company at all, I just wasn't totally impressed with the product. Maybe I will give them some feedback, in case they want to make something more along the lines of what I am wanting:rolleyes: I did like the colors, and their 1% for the environment and not made in sweatshops is cool too.
The wallet I have now is a cheapy thing I picked up at someplace long forgotton (maybe Target? who knows). It says "Freestyle" on it, and it's black. It folds in half, and ends up being about the same size as the Jimi minus the top part that snaps open (on the Jimi). I have a DL plus 10 misc credit cards/insurance cards/library card stuffed in it. Since it is fabric, it kind of flexes and is decently comfortable in the back pocket of my jeans. Maybe I can post a pic of it later if I can find my camera, and if anyone wants to see it.

Ok, so I googled Freestyle, and I guess they are a real brand. Looks like they are sort of trying to be in the surfer market. Mine is sort of like this one:A Freestyle wallet (http://www.edgewear.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?store_code=E&screen=PROD&product_code=93039183011)
Maybe I will see what else I can find in the realm of "surfer wallets":D

I use something similar to the Jimi - it's alittle smaller, but it holds a credit card, some cash and coins. It's a clear plastic "travel" container for Q-Tips. It was about $1 at the drug store. I have to be frugal - we have 2 kids in college right now!

What about something like one of these? Eagle Creek makes good quality stuff. The slim coin pocket sounds like what you're looking for. And they have them at REI.

Thanks, Fuji Girl!:) Those do look pretty good. I don't know about the zipper on the coin purse thing--that might feel funny in a back pocket. But the "slim wallet" looks pretty interesting. I may have to go over to REI and see if they have one in stock.
