Phew! what a morning I had. Today was our annual club breakfast where a lot of the local clubs all ride out to a cafe for a full English, off-season feed up but it didn't go according to plan.
I live on the coast and the idea was to ride along the coast road to the cafe which is on top of the cliffs, but the weather was truely dreadfull - lots of rain and wind which got so strong I was blown off my bike!!! Luckily I wasn't going fast and landed in a soggy grassy ditch so no damage done. After that is was sooo windy I turned back while the rest carried on. Totally insane!
I got a taxi home becuase of the wind, then drove out to pick up my BF as who was riding in the group, as there was no way I was letting him ride home again. Turns out the cabbie was an ex- road rider and was very sympathic. I was worried about my bike messing up his cab with my wet, oily bike but he was more worried about making sure my frame didn't get scratched! :)
Apparently there were gusts up to 60 mph and the waves on the beach were HUGE. Another one of the group also got blown off but was ok. VERY glad I decided to turn round and go home. The guys in my club aren't normally too bad on the macho front, but I did think they were pretty daft not turning round when I did. Still, eveyone was ok and after all the catching taxis and driving I never did get my breakfast...:p
