Arrgh! I can't seem to get my riding schedule/comittiments together!

I have 1001 great excuses. Fall always seems to throw me for a loop: weather's iffy, we are getting into pre-ski season and with our ski aptrol commitments there's always training and things on the weekend; work is picking up (I am self emloyed) and a zillion other things. AND I have to tear my bike apart and replace all the cable housings as it's not recovered from the ride in the mud I did...and schelping my kids to certain things.... and... and....

aargh!

I'm reading Lance's new book and keep wishing I had unlimited time to ride every day. Or would I? Saddle sores, aches & pains, limited diets, away from the family (and now getting divorced, I hear). Plus, you HAVE to ride - it's your job. No luxury of rolling over in bed when you hear the rain early in the morning.

Life's demands just make those moments on the bike sweeter. You can't have joy without sorrow.

Autumn always seems to catch me out too. As September approaches I'm always aware there's kit I need to buy or parts that need replacing but somehow don't do anything about it.

Got my winter training bike out the other day to give it the once over and there's a couple of things I need to replace.

I think it's denial - while I can still ride my summer bike without having to wrap up too warm I can convince myself winter is still a long way off....:p

I am in the same place. Happens every fall. Biking seems to take second place to a host of other things right now and maybe that's a good thing....... My family gets a little more attention, my work, my house. Not that I ignore those things during the cycling season, but I let it all slide a bit to ride more. Time for catching up. It is only 37 degrees F here today. I would have to dig out my winter cycling clothers. I'm not acclimatized yet. I HATE to be cold. All excuses, I know, I should be out there riding instead of in here, warm on the computer. But so far I haven't convinced myself to do it. A hike is sounding really good and then maybe a session on the indoor trainer, just to do some pedaling. I could test out "Kashmir" on the bike! Plus try out some Halloween songs I am compiling for a Halloween Spin class.

Anyway, I think we have to give ourselves a break from riding occasionally. It only makes it better when you do get back out.

Enjoy the weekend, ladies!

I just had this conversation with my friend who is a US Pro rider. His response: Stop whining and RIDE! gee thanks
