Yesterday, I was supposed to ride with Plushride, but it rained . Since the forecast last night said we would have downpours this afternoon, I got up at 5 and rode 17.5 miles, to make my goal of 1,000 by July 1st. It was really crappy out. Foggy, misty, to just about raining when I got back. I had my yellow glasses on, but they were fogged up half the time, until I pushed them up to my forehead, below my helmet as I made my last climb, because I couldn't see a thing. I'm sure I looked like a total dork. I actually saw quite a few cyclists, all going the other way. No one passed me, and I didn't pass anyone, except a deer who jumped across the road in front of me about a mile from my house.
With my odometer at 1,000.88 I now have to figure out how to get another 1500 by the time winter starts (and do all of the other things I need to do)!

OOPS! Underestimated my commute mileage! But it was still a nice ride in, even with a few sprinkles thrown in for good measure. I love these Egg Beater pedals!

Another early morning ride up the canyon. Didn't go as far up this time...only to a beautiful waterfall called Bridal Veil Falls. Then back down the canyon and into town a bit before heading back home. Weather seemed a bit warmer today, but still had the nasty headwind whenever I turned North. Ended up only doing just over 18 miles.

Just a short ride today, had an early appointment this morning. I tackled the several mile long 2-3 mile long hill that I have been working on recently and I am getting faster-yay!

I did some hill climbing this moring. It was very nice at the foothills. Well, except for the fact that you look dwon in the valley and see the smog:( , Still beats riding in the 100 plus heat this afternoon

I'm on vacation in North Dakota and had a great ride this morning with my brother and a new friend that I met in Minot's Wednesday night club ride.
We waited for the rain shower to pass and then went for 25 miles. It was a little breezy, with winds about 20-25 miles per hour and the temp was close to 80. A nice change from the Texas heat.
I really enjoyed the country roads and didn't miss the traffic, or the glass (and other junk) that we have to avoid in Austin. We had a few hills with grades from 6-8% as well as one hill that was an 11% grade for most of the climb and 25% at the top. I got nervous and unclipped.
Looking forward to the next ride.

uneventful commute to work this morning. The traffic lights are working again in downtown DC.
I'm about to leave to go home, and it's awfully stormy-looking out there. But I gotta get home, and the Metro might be flooded, again.

Commuted. Nice headwind going out stuck around to give me a push home. Had a few close calls with cabs on Wacker drive. The usual :D

Met Luv'n Austin through her brother last night on the club ride and went out this morning for a 25 mile loop. The ride was great (always is when there are great people to ride with) but best of all she turned me on to this site. WOW!
We did a regular ride loop in reverse due to prevailing south winds, Luv'n Austin was able to monitor the hill grades and it made me feel MUCH better
knowing the hills I crawl up are 7-8%+ grade, 1/2 - 1 mile long, with a stout head wind thrown in for good measure. I guess I am getting tougher!
Can't wait to go out with her again - much to learn:D

I packed my recumbent this morning and headed south to see my parents. They live in a small subdivision with a large oval street. I rode the circle over and over again this evening. I managed to get 11.9 miles in before it was time to join them for supper. Unfortunately, many of their neighbor chose not to confine their dogs so I spent a lot of time avoiding them. At one point I stopped picked up a handful of rocks and began to pepper them, seemed to work. I hope to ride into town tomorrow, visit the park and boat ramp and make a large circle around the town before heading home.

Just went a tiny bit long on the commute today, for total of 25 miles. Yesterday was 48 including 27 FULL TILT so I took it easy. 1009 for June, YEA!!!! Maybe try to match it in July, but there's no week-long tour and the 5 weekends don't really help me. Maybe I"ll try to make a total of 2000 for both months.
Cruising on the Windsor bike path, a car tooted at me... I'd dropped something off the back (it's a long way back there). It was only the plastic bag that had had my lunch, but it was a sweet gesture and I didn't wnat to litter.
(Other goal: pick up >50 cans from the side of the road, without too many drivers seeing me and thinking I"m pathetic :D :D ... they just seem like pennies or something 'cause I can toss 'em into the goat and turn 'em into cash, and clean up a little...)
Picked up the Bianchi Veloche with her brand new aero bars and tri saddle. Don't like the saddle so much--hurts the sit bone area. I went down into the aero bars once, cruising on a pretty open stretch of Elston. Then I thought, "The TE'ers will kick my cyber-butt if I crash because I was in the aero bars on a city street." Got back out to where I could reach the brakes and shift!
Had a (dumb) idea that I'd go for a fast ride down the south lakefront path to try out the aero bars after donating blood. Wrong. I sat around, ate, drank and drank water, after donating blood, and eventually got on the bike to come home. Didn't ride too quickly either. It fried me to get passed by...everybody. Rode a total of 12.5 miles. Ate more, drank more water, slept an hour, and went to play volleyball (as I always do on Thurs) in an un-ac'd field house. Whew. That was a bit wonky. Home now. On call, hoping for a quiet night! Shhhh, all you pregnant women...sleep....sleep...sleep...! ;)
