Anyone following the World Championships in Hamilton this week? I caught some of the Under 23's mens time trial yesterday. The guy that won was in absolute pieces when he came over the line. His assistant had to hold him up while he recovered.
It's the womens TT today and the Womens roadrace on Saturday. Really hope Britains Nicole Cooke can round off her storming season by taking the World Champs, as well as having the World Cup.
I'll also be backing Erik Zable in the mens race. Go Erik...:p

Hi,
Where have you been folowing the World? is it on any of the satelite channels?
On another note there's a possibility of a Tour of Scotland next year. See attached link.
We're quite excited about the prospect of having some of the pro's possibly cycling in our city - Aberdeen.

Hi Jacqui C - yeh a Tour of Scotland would be great. Some good riding round there should make for an exciting tour.
They've had live coverage of the Worlds on British Eurosport in the evenings. Last night it was on from about 8 -9pm. It's about 8pm now and actually on as I speak showing the womens TT.
Some of those Chinese girls are massive! Glad I'm not riding against them (as if) I'd be scared:D Shame Nicole isn't riding the TT - I thinks she's saving herself for the road race.
Talking about Nicole - can I boast ( just a little). She's coming to our Annual Club dinner this year as special guest. Her sports agent is a member of our club and has arranged it for us. Can't wait! - especially as she'll also be joining us on the traditional hangover club ride the next morning. I'm quite sure she'll be hangover free though:)

Nicole - WOW we have such great expectations of her already.
My husband will be so jealous that you have her coming to your dinner .......
I found the worlds on Eurosport last night. You're not wrong about some of those girls, they are BIG. I was just wondering if it is ALL muscle or if they lost a few pounds if they'd go any quicker?
Did you see the Spanish woman when she won? She was so happy and at 31. Duffers was as bad as always, missing the important stuff. Jenny Longo was still in there as well, I'm sure I heard them say she was 40+
There was some interesting discussion about how women seem to get better as they get older and how a large proportion of the women pro's are 30+ with the exception of Nicole of course who's 21? Based on the assumption that the women don't peak untill much later than the men in road cycling terms, what is Nicole going to be like by the time she reaches 30?????
I'll now be glued to Eurosport for the next couple of weeks.......

Good link Jacqui - I like Graham Watson's site but don't check it out that often.
That was great when the Spanish girl won. She just looked like she couldn't believe it! Wish I could remember her name, but she was a team mate of Nicoles when she was at Dai Pragma, last year.
Those Chinese girls were huge, but there were also a couple to TINY girls. I think one might have been from Mexico but her skinsuit just hung off her and I'm sure she had the sleeves rolled up. She looked like a little girl. It's interesting to see all the shapes and sizes.
Gald to hear women get better as they get older. ( But then we knew that anyway:p) ) I'm 29 so the next few years should be good! :)

Hi All
i just got back from Hamilton! HOLY COW!!! it was so amazing i don't even know where to begin...ok breathe...
We went to the races saturday and sunday. We saw the women warming up (man they look good!). the crowds were awesome as they cheered on all the riders. We walked a good chunk of the race course. The downhill was too cool. I was leaning over the railing to see, and i had to move out of the way! They came so close the edge...
Then the men on sunday...what a different race it seemed with all the support cars and media around...the crowd was also bigger.
We walked behind the support tents, and watched the french coach pour something that looked like grenadine in the water bottles, one of the german racers storming right by us after he dropped out, and coaches watching anxiously on their tv monitors.
oh yes we also caught a glimpse of one of the riders pedalling next to his support car as his mechanic was hanging out and adjusting his rear derailleur.
At the end we were about 300 meters before the finish and watched the pack sprint in...TOO COOL! i am not into road racing but this was a pretty amazing experience...
Sigh....:D
